A barracks was a type of building that was dedicated to housing soldiers. Certain starships, like the Pelta-class frigate, were equipped with barracks for any embarked troops.[2]

The first Death Star was known to have communal barracks, but there were enough private bunks that most people could expect to receive one within three to six months of arrival.[3]
