The Baros system was a star system in the Outer Rim Territories[1] and the Slice's[2] Lothal sector. It was positioned in grid square U-7 on the Standard Galactic Grid.[1]

Behind the scenes

The Baros system was first mentioned in the current Star Wars canon on a galactic map in Star Wars: The Force Awakens Beginner Game, a 2016 boxed set for Fantasy Flight Games' series of Star Wars Roleplaying products.[3] The system was later identified as the "Baros system" in "Star Systems of the Galaxy,"[1] an appendix accompanying the Star Wars Galaxy Map, an article on StarWars.com featuring a map of the galaxy.[4] Both works were authored by Jason Fry and posted on June 24, 2025.[5]

In the Star Wars Legends continuity, the Baros system was introduced in "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star, How I Wonder Where We Are," a 1990 roleplaying source article published in Voyages SF 13. Since that article was released outside of the Lucas Licensing process,[6] it is considered non-canon with respect to the Legends continuity.[7] The Baros system was later mentioned in the 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas, written by Daniel Wallace and Jason Fry, which marked its first unambiguously canonical debut.[8] The system later made its first appearance in Star Wars: The Old Republic, a 2011 BioWare video game.[9]
