The homeworld of the B'ankora species was a planet in the galaxy.[1] At some point before around 1300 BBY,[3] the planet suffered a cataclysmic collision with a meteor. In response the surviving B'ankora were given a piece of grass land on the Galactic Republic's capital Coruscant and were ultimately granted the land by by Supreme Chancellor Chasen Piian to use in perpetuity so they could resume their sedentary lifestyle with humble homes, fields, and trails, which became known as the B'ankor Refuge.[1]
Behind the scenes
The B'ankora homeworld was fist mentioned in Catalyst: A Rogue One Novel, written by James Luceno[1] and published on November 15, 2016[4] as a prequel to the film Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.[1]
The 2016 reference book Star Wars: Rogue One: Rebel Dossier, written by Jason Fry, originally dated the B'ankor being granted the B'ankor Refuge to 131 BBY,[5] but in Catalyst it is stated that they had lived in the Refuge "for more than fifty generations" and had planted a copse of gargantuan trees "centuries earlier" by the time of the novel.[1] 2023's Star Wars: Timelines later instead placed the event to 1300 BBY.[3] Because Timelines is the newer source and it's date lines up better with what is established in Catalyst, this article assumes it to be correct.

- ↑ According to Star Wars: Rogue One: Rebel Dossier the B'ankora were granted the B'ankor Refuge 112 years before the end of the end of the Galactic Republic, which Star Wars: Galactic Atlas dates to 19 BBY. As such it could be deduced that the B'ankor Refuge was established in 131 BBY.
