This species was a sentient species that existed in the galaxy. Ayo Tam was a member of this species.[1]
Biology and appearance
This diminutive humanoid sentient species was distinguished by their purple and mottled blue skin, as well as solid black eyes.[1]
Species in the galaxy
In 9 BBY,[2] a member of this species, Ayo Tam, walked and talked with a small Aki-Aki near the Mos Eisley spaceport when exiled Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi made his way towards an outbound passenger transport in an attempt to save a young Princess Leia.[1]
Behind the scenes
This species first appeared in the first episode of the Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi limited television series, directed by Deborah Chow[1]and aired on May 26, 2022.[3] The Ayo Tam bust, originally sculpted by Miles Teves, was a collaborative design by Shaun Smith and Joe Pepe for a project that was ultimately scrapped. Years later, make-up effects artist Shaun Smith repurposed the detailed bust for use in Obi-Wan Kenobi. Smith asked concept artist Dylan Howie-Richardson to create an updated design for the species,[4] which was then implemented as a background character within the series' first episode.[5]

This was originally sculpted by Miles Teves for a completely different project that did not come to fruition. I had Dylan Howie-Richardson sketch out an alien based on the sculpture and thus Ayo Tam was born into the colorful Star Wars universe! He only appears in one scene of the series, walking in the background - let me know if you spot him!" (backup link)
