- "If you want juicy conversation and a hot cup of ardees, come to Dexter's Diner. If you want a good cup of ardees, try Biscuit Baron."
- ―Slyther Bushforb
Ardees was a sharp, bitter alcoholic beverage made by the Ardees Beverage Company. It was nicknamed Jawa juice by many who consumed it.
History
- "You want a cup of Jawa Juice?"
- ―FLO to Obi-Wan Kenobi
Obi-Wan Kenobi was offered a cup of Jawa juice by FLO while at Dex's Diner investigating the origin of a mysterious saberdart. The traditional recipe was made from bantha hide and fermented grains, but there were many different forms, including non-alcoholic versions, served in cantinas around the galaxy.
Jawa juice was also served at Bantha Traxx on Lianna. By 1.5 ABY, ardees was still being served by bartenders in cantinas around the galaxy.[3][4]
Behind the scenes
Ardees was named after Ardees Rabang Jundis, assistant to Rick McCallum.[5]
In the original script and pre-release cuts of Attack of the Clones, WA-7 offers Obi-Wan Kenobi a cup of ardees, although the name was changed to Jawa juice in the final version of the film.[5] The novelization of the film and German dub of the movie, however, use the original name in this scene.
When Anakin Skywalker and Padmé Amidala visited the Lars ranch on Tatooine, Beru offered them cups of a hot drink, which the script called ardees, although in the film itself the beverage is not named.
Ardees appeared in the MMORPG Star Wars Galaxies. In the game, ardees could be purchased from bartenders in cantinas around the galaxy.
