An airbase, also spelled air base or called an airfield, was a type of military installation.[1] During the Clone Wars between the Galactic Republic and the Confederacy of Independent Systems, the Separatist-aligned Umbaran Militia maintained an airbase on the planet Umbara that they used to resupply the Umbaran capital city. 501st Legion forces commanded by Clone Captain Rex and Jedi General Pong Krell would take the base during the Battle of Umbara.[2] By 5 BBY,[3] the Imperial Navy maintained an airbase known as the Steergard Naval Yard in Steergard.[1] The airbase was attacked by Anto Kreegyr's group, which resulted in the attackers' overwhelming defeat, as the Imperial Security Bureau was made aware of their plans beforehand.[4] The Aldhani Garrison maintained another airbase hosting the Alkenzi Air Command[5] on the planet Aldhani.[1] The Empire also had an airbase[6] on the planet[7] Bar'leth.[6]
