The AA-1 VerboBrain was a model of verbobrain manufactured by SyntheTech, that was installed in the 3PO series of protocol droids produced by Cybot Galactica. The AA-1 was designed to allow the droid to flawlessly perform as translators and diplomats, and also allowed the unit to develop an original personality with genuine emotions.[1]

The AA-1 was a piece of computing hardware that enabled a droid's cognitive functions and logic processing. The fluency in "6 million forms of communication" C-3PO often boasted about was provided by a TranLang III communications module, not to be confused with the AA-1 Verbobrain.

Industrial Automaton installed AA-1 VerboBrains in the LOM-series protocol droid. Equipping the trademark hardware infuriated Cybot Galactica, which was compounded by Industrial Automaton giving the LOM-series a TranLang III communications module and obvious cosmetic similarities to the 3PO-series. Cybot Galactica sent an army of copyright attorneys after Industrial Automaton, leading to only a limited release of the LOM-series.[1]

The AA-1 had a total data capacity of five exabytes and could operate at seven petahertz.[2]

PD-series protocol droids were equipped with standard AA-1 VerboBrains. Due to the intention to sell the droids to the Lurrian market, sixty percent of the language programming was removed and replaced with extensive information on genetics and DNA resequencing.[1]

The AA-1 VerboBrain was installed in Arakyd Industries' Mark VII "Inquisitor" Series Seeker Droid. It worked in conjunction with Arakyd's own BXT-4 central processing computer.[3]
