50R-T, pronounced "Sortie," was a tactical droid whose origins stretched back to the time of the Old Republic. Bearing a resemblance to droids of the GEMINI class, 50R-T eventually found herself as scrap on a battlefield. She would go on to be reprogrammed as a croupier droid by new owners, who hoped that 50R-T's proclivity for tactics would give her an advantage in gambling activities.[1] 50R-T wielded a blaster pistol, as well as a deck of modified Sabacc cards which she used to attack her enemies.[2]
Behind the scenes
- "We've had the core idea behind 50R-T for quite some time and have been looking for a way to introduce her to Galaxy of Heroes and Star Wars as a whole"
- ―EA, on introducing 50R-T to Star Wars
50R-T was created as an original playable character for the Electronic Arts mobile game Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes. Her creation came about after EA Capital Games collaborated with BioWare to add Star Wars: The Old Republic villain Darth Malgus to the game. After seeing some of BioWare's ideas for a new droid character, the Galaxy of Heroes team worked with them and developed the idea into 50R-T. She was unveiled on May 11, 2022 and became available in-game the following day.[1]
The design for 50R-T was modeled after the Iokath droid models in the video game Star Wars: The Old Republic: Legacy of the Sith,[1] specifically the PH4-LNX companion which shares a near-identical design with 50R-T.[3]
