Scott hired Mandy as a weather girl for the 5:30 AM slot for a TV station in San Antonio while they were dating. After their relationship ended, Scott replaced her with his new girlfriend, who he also gave the more desirable 8:30 slot.

About three years later, Scott rehired Mandy for a temporary job covering for the regular weather girl and was impressed enough to offer her a full-time position. This would cause some friction between Mandy and her husband George Cooper Jr., as she didn't tell him about working with an ex. Scott, for his part, did not tell his fiancee about working with Mandy.
Scott came from a wealthy family and was well-liked by Mandy's mother Audrey McAllister.
