- "Are you a prisoner?"
"I was. Are you going to research my background or help the camp out?" - ―A spacer and Zsu Val
Zsu Val was a male Chiss who lived during the Galactic Civil War.
Biography
- "All you have to do is go to a guard post outside the walls and attract the udead away from the entrance. Sound like somethin' you can do?"
- ―Zsu Val, to a spacer
After the Battle of Yavin, Zsu Val was detained in the Imperial Research and Prison Facility on the planet Dathomir.[1] In 1 ABY,[2] an accident took place in the research facility. The Blackwing virus that was studied there escaped containment and decimated most of the people in the area, turning them into starving undead creatures. In response, the Galactic Empire promptly established a Quarantine Zone to contain the infection.[3] The few people who survived the initial virus outbreak, including Zsu Val,[1] were trapped in the Quarantine Zone. The survivors established camps in order to to repel the regular assaults of the zombies and try to live in safety while waiting for an evacuation.[3]

The Chiss took shelter in Camp Epsilon, the most unsafe camp since it was located in the courtyard of the Imperial Research and Prison Facility, the place where lived the most dangerous undeads.[1] Other survivors in the camp at that time included the technician Sogan Varga,[4] the mechanic Nils Cridmeen,[5] the Inquisitor Klex Fulgor,[6] and the stormtroopers GT-643, KD-121 and HX-138.[7] Zsu Val was in charge of the forward defense of the camp and used to recruit spacers who ventured into the Quarantine Zone to help him in that mission.[1]
Later, a group of spacers helped the survivors refugees of camp Camp Epsilon to repair a damaged Lambda-class shuttle present in the camp.[5] The survivors and the spacers eventually escaped the Quarantine Zone altogether with the shuttle.[8]

Star Wars Galaxies (post-NGE) — Collection: "Forward Watch, Epsilon Camp"
- ↑ The opening crawl of Star Wars Galaxies: An Empire Divided dates the game to after the events of Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope, and additionally, Serji-X Arrogantus, who died in Star Wars (1977) 10—the events of which The New Essential Chronology dates to 0 ABY—appears in the game. Therefore, at least a portion of Star Wars Galaxies must be set in that year. Furthermore, in the game Ruwan Tokai references the destruction of the Death Star as having occurred one year earlier, and Strongholds of Resistance also places the events of Galaxies' Chapter 9: "The Fury of Exar Kun" in 1 ABY. Lastly, while Chapter 11: "The Battle of Echo Base" features the Battle of Hoth—dated to 3 ABY by The New Essential Chronology—the developers have stated that the portrayal of that battle in the game is intentionally anachronistic. Therefore, the events of Star Wars Galaxies must span from 0 ABY to around 1 ABY.
