- "Officials are said to be suspicious of the local slave trader's sect, the Zel'iphian Slave Traders Guild, of trading slaves even though the Empire officially stated their trades 'illegal'."
- ―Imperial Daily News
The Zel'iphian Slave Traders Guild was a sect of slavers that operated in the Dantooine system at the time of the Galactic Civil War.
Description
The Zel'iphian Slave Traders were active in the Dantooine system where they usually captured hapless starships. They then traded their victims to remote mining operations or criminal warlords.[3] The guild was led by a council.[4]
They Zel'iphian slavers controlled the Dantooine system's Area D-504, which they later renamed after their leader Ith'ril Eventide after he took control of the organization.[2] Pilots of the Guild were known as Vin Guardians and patrolled the area with ferocity, attacking any intruder on sight. Vin Guardians were also present in the dangerous Sserician Eclipse area.[5]
In space battles, the Zel'iphian Slave Traders flew M3-A Scyk fighters and G1-M4-C Dunelizard fighters.[6]
History
- "'Our sources are still investigating the issue', Officer Vghand of the Imperial Navy says. 'They won't be able to get away with it for too long.' The Zel'iphian Slave Traders still deny any claim to trading slaves."
- ―Imperial Daily News
Although the Zel'iphian were notorious slavers, they denied any claim to trading slaves. However, as slavery was officially banned in the Empire, the Imperial Navy examined the operations of the Zel'iphian Traders. After the Battle of Yavin, Imperial Officer Vghand investigated the Zel'iphian Guild and intended to prove that the organization was actively trading slaves.[1] Therefore, the slavers began to diversify their business to spice trade.[4]
During the Galactic Civil War, the Empire was unable to protect civilian vessels from Zel'iphian pirates in the Dantooine system. Around the time of the Battle of Yavin, a group of scientists, the Aii`tkian Anthropologists, made an alliance with local merchants and junk dealers, such as the O.S.S. D-502 Junk Guild, to protect themselves against the Zel'iphian Slave Traders.[3]
Antage Oran was a member of the guild.[4]
