- "Quiet! We are the Black Sun."
- ―Grunseit refuses Maul's offer
Xomit Grunseit was a Falleen male and the leader of Black Sun during the Clone Wars, operating out of the Black Sun fortress on the planet Mustafar. The renegade Sith Lord Maul, along with the Death Watch and Maul's brother, Savage Opress, came before Grunseit to recruit Black Sun into their Shadow Collective, however Grunseit refused, resulting in the decapitation of him and four other Falleen nobles.[3]
Biography
During the Clone Wars, Xomit Grunseit and the Black Sun were based on the on the volcanic world of Mustafar in the Outer Rim. Grunseit assembled a large force of soldiers loyal to him, including his Captain of the Guard Ziton Moj.[3]
Grunseit was in his facility when Moj introduced Death Watch leader Pre Vizsla and the two Sith Darth Maul and Savage Opress to him. Maul stated to Grunseit that he was forming an army and that he wished for Grunseit and his faction to join him. Grunseit mocked Maul and his allies and refused to ally with the Sith Lord.[3]
Grunseit ordered his guards to kill Maul, Vizsla and the others but Opress managed to kill one of the guards and throw the corpse on the table. Maul asked one final time and the Falleen stood up stating that they were the Black Sun. Opress then ignited his lightsaber and hurled it at Grunseit and the other Falleens. Grunseit watched as the lightsaber decapitated his advisors seconds before he was beheaded.[3]
Legacy
Grunseit's faction would continue to survive after his death, but they would ultimately be absorbed into Maul's new Shadow Collective.[3] Those soldiers would prove instrumental, as would Ziton Moj, in the takeover and battle of Mandalore, sometime after Grunseit's death.[5] Xomit Grunseit's time leading Black Sun was mentioned in "Index of Organizations," a survival compendium sent out by Carson Teva during the New Republic Era.[6]
Personality and traits

When Maul and Savage Opress requested that his forces joined their criminal group, he scuffed and then stood up with the other leaders of Black Sun, attempting to instill fear in his visitors, while insisting the Black Sun were not mercenaries.[3] However, his intimidation was his undoing, as he was killed moments later, when Opress hurled his lightsaber.[1]

As the leader of Black Sun, Grunseit was skilled in intimidation, persuasion and negotiations, as well as armed and unarmed combat.[1]
