- "This is Enoch, captain of my guard."
- ―Grand Admiral Thrawn
Captain of the Guard,[6] also written as captain of the guard,[5] was the title held by the captain of the Black Sun Guard,[6] the captain of the Zygerrian[2] and Pijal Royal guard[10] and captain of the Galactic Republic's Senate Guard,[1] as well as being held by some individuals who served as the commanding officer of a military unit.[9]
History
The mercenary Lang served as Captain of the Guard for Magistrate Morgan Elsbeth's forces, commanding the defense of the walled city of Corvus.[4] The Night Trooper Enoch, who was further identified by the rank of captain itself,[11] served as Captain of the Guard for Grand Admiral Mitth'raw'nuruodo[3] by 9 ABY.[12] In that capacity, Enoch served as the commander of Thrawn's Night Troopers,[9] the remaining stormtroopers who survived in exile Thrawn and the personnel aboard his flagship, the Chimaera, had found themselves in after being banished to a distant galaxy by a pod of purrgil commanded by Ezra Bridger.[3]
When aboard a starship of the First Order Navy, First Order stormtroopers would follow a captain of the guard as their ultimate authority. Despite this special chain of command, stormtroopers would follow the commands of any officer, regardless of their military branch, during an alert.[5]
