A data crystal necklace was owned by[2] Xet,[1] a Falleen who served as a Crimson Dawn spy within in the Black Sun.[2] The necklace contained intelligence of Black Sun's inner workings, operations and personnel,[3] as well as records Crimson Dawn's infiltration of the various groups across the galaxy.[4] It also had Crimson Dawn access codes and ciphers.[5]
While Xet was on the Crimson Dawn flagship, the Vermillion, at the time it hosted the Auction for Han Solo, the necklace was stolen from Xet by the rogue archaeologist Doctor Chelli Lona Aphra in order to discover Black Sun secrets for her employer, Head of Tagge Corporation Domina Tagge.[2] After Aphra was captured by Crimson Dawn forces, the necklace was taken into a gallery on the Vermillion before Aphra and the smuggler Sana Starros recovered it.[4]
When she later sliced into the necklace, Aphra discovered what its contents,[3] and kept a copy of its ciphers and access codes in the Ark Angel IV.[5] Aphra later gave it to Tagge, who noted the information within could bring Black Sun to its knees.[3] When Aphra was possessed by the Spark Eternal, it used the codes she had copied in order to reboard the Vermillion while looking for the droids 0-0-0 and BT-1.[5]
