The worrt rooster was a type of dinosaur-like bird that possessed reptilian features and crowed at sunrise on its home planet of Tatooine. In spite of being gentle, the bird exhibited a fearsome appearance and would become a menace if provoked as well as screeching if it felt at risk. In 9 ABY, one such bird was present on Tatooine, where it crowed on top of a building once it spotted one of Tatooine's two suns.

Biology and appearance

The worrt rooster was a type of[1] dinosaur-like[3] bird that resided on the desert planet Tatooine. They had two arms tipped with three lengthy fingers which possessed reptilian wings,[1] along with two legs. They possessed a white crested head with a beak[2] with jagged teeth and an upper jaw that extended further then the lower jaw,[1] with the latter having two fangs that pointed outward from the mouth. They had a stubby tail[2] along with black eyes,[1] gray skin,[2] and measured 50 centimeters in length. Additionally, the creature shared its forename with the worrt,[1] an amphibian[4] native to Tatooine as well.[5]

To declare the beginning of another day, the worrt rooster would crow at daybreak. The bird was easily intimidated and would continuously squawk if it suspected it was in danger, despite the bird not being hostile. The bird was considered threatening in appearance, which contrasted its benign nature.[1]

History

In 9 ABY,[6] a worrt rooster crowed at the sight of seeing one of Tatooine's[2] two[7] suns whilst perched on the rooftop of an establishment. The bird then proceeded to groom its wings with its beak.[2]

Behind the scenes

The worrt rooster, albeit unidentified, first appeared in the fifth episode of the Disney+ live-action series Star Wars: The Book of Boba Fett, which aired on January 26, 2022.[8] The creature was later identified through an image asset uploaded on the same day on The Walt Disney Studios' Getty Images website.[9]
