- I am pleased to present Zed42 as the newest candidate for Wookieepedia administrator. Zed has been with us for four years now, accumulating more than 30,000 edits in that time, at an impressive activity rate of more than 22 edits a day. He has become a leading member of the EduCorps review board and has been responsibly wielding the Rollback tool for more than six months now. As a sharp Recent changes patroller and a regular of both our IRC channel and Discord server, he frequently notifies the administration of ongoing vandalism, so much so that I've often joked with him that we should just make him an admin already so he can stop bothering us. But in all seriousness, Zed has demonstrated himself to be one of our most mature and even-keeled users, and I have full confidence in him to wield the banhammer effectively and responsibly. As an added bonus, he's often active during Wookieepedia's "down times," when few admins are present and able to immediately respond to issues. Congratulations on your nomination, Zed. You've earned it, and I look forward to you joining the team. Toprawa and Ralltiir (talk) 18:39, September 14, 2020 (UTC)

- Always helpful, always courteous, and always up-to-date, Zed is a constant force on the wiki. I have nothing but respect for him and his skills at shooting down redlinks (Zed's beaten me to the punch on uploads of new articles on plenty of occasions). An individual of utmost professionalism, Zed is a perfect candidate for admin. RattsT (talk) 19:15, September 14, 2020 (UTC)

- Congratulations, Zed!! He is a perfect candidate for the administrator position, and I'm frankly not surprised with this nomination. Very well, earned!--Vitus InfinitusTalk 19:20, September 14, 2020 (UTC)
- Absolutely per the above gentlemen. Zed is an outstanding Wookieepedian and I can't wait to see his good work as an admin. And, for what it's worth, I would like to quickly say that this nomination is by no means a way of filling out the ranks of admins who've fallen off the radar of late. Indeed, Zed has been on the radar for a little while now and is absolutely deserving of this position, regardless of the activity levels of other members of the Administration. - Zed is one of the editors I can always trust, he has earned this position for his quality edits and for being one of our most level-headed users. I look forward working alongside you, Congratulations Zed!--DarthRuiz30 (talk) 20:26, September 14, 2020 (UTC)

- Even though this will end my streak as last on the list of "administrators in alphabetical order", Zed is a true professional who will make a great addition to the team. Secret Well, although I am a new join, but I felt you are very helpful and a rightful admin, your work needs to pay off, I don't know if I can vote since I just join, but I fully support you.10:27, September 23, 2020( GMT-7)(Vote struck per Additional provisions, first bullet point of WP:VEP. 1358 (Talk) 17:31, September 23, 2020 (UTC))

Optional candidate Q&A
- Why do you want to become an administrator?
- Being an administrator would further my ability to help this site through dealing with vandalism and the like, as watching over the Recent Changes is something I generally do anyway while editing. And of course, I'm willing to help elsewhere whenever I can.
- In your opinion, what is the role of an administrator?
- To maintain the continued operation of the site, either through being a mediator of disagreements, providing help to others, or, if necessary, taking care of any harm that occurs.
- In your view, do administrators hold a technical or political position?
- At a base level, the position should be purely technical. However, the existence of administrator as a position of technical power will ultimately introduce somewhat of a political side to the role.
- How do you feel admins should use their power/stand in comparison with other users?
- Admins ideally should not be seen as looking down on other users, and the use of their powers should reflect that.
- Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or do you feel other users have caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
- Nothing major. Some of my first edits were reverted, and I'd expect the same is true for many other users. I try not to be involved with conflict at all. If any issues arise, I'd hope there was something that could be done before it gets out of hand.
- Of your articles or contributions to Wookieepedia, are there any with which you are particularly pleased, and why?
- I'm rather pleased with my (small) collection of Good status articles and my (slightly larger) collection of lengthy pages I've written up and done nothing with as of yet. As of recently, I'm particularly proud of this guy.
- What sysop chores do you anticipate helping with?
- Ideally, as much as I can, and whatever is necessary. I foresee a great deal of combating vandalism.
- How important is it for you to be involved in things such as CT, FA, GA, and other community-centered items that involve discussion and voting?
- I think it is absolutely important for involvement in discussion and decisions that could potentially lead to changes on the site. Status article nomination boards are less essential, but participation in those is still a good idea.
- Do you think admins performing actions (I.e. deletions, blocks, etc.) for reasons not covered on policy should be sanctioned/punished? If so, how?
- It depends on their reasoning. One would hope admins would not take action out of spite, and that any actions they do take have a good reason. If that is the case, I don't think any sanctions are required, but there should be discussion over how to update the policy to cover anything that is missed.
- What is your policy, if any, of welcoming new users? Should you welcome a new user, do you look at his/her contributions beforehand? What about anonymous IPs?
- I provide the welcome template to any registered users that I see editing, and to anonymous users if they have enough contributions to show that they'd be willing to register an account. If the user is only here to cause issues, I just warn them upfront.
- How would you react if someone undeleted an article you'd mistakenly speedied? Under what circumstances would you consider it appropriate to undelete an article mistakenly speedied by another administrator, if any, and how would you approach this task?
- If it were a mistake on my behalf, I wouldn't be offended or annoyed in any way, and I would make sure to avoid that in future. I would assume no malicious intent if someone deleted something that didn't deserve it, and would reach out to them and discuss the issue.
- How would you react if your user page was vandalized? Under what circumstances would you block the offender? Is there anything else that you would do in this situation?
- I wouldn't take it personally. If it was a harmless user who wasn't aware of the user page policies, I'd politely inform them. In the case of egregious vandalism, I'd take the appropriate procedure, whether that be warning or blocking the user.
- Under what circumstances would you consider blocking an established user?
- Under the exact same circumstances as any other. Being "established" does not mean a user should be treated differently if they fail to follow the policy.
- If you could change any one thing about Wookieepedia, what would it be?
- This isn't really a fault of Wookieepedia itself, but make editing the wiki seem more accessible to newcomers. There kind of seems to be an opinion with infrequent/new editors that editing on the wiki is something formidable. I had the same view when I first started, and was hesitant to make edits in case I did something wrong. It's not really a problem that can just be solved easily, however.
- Would you look at a glass to be half-empty or half-full?
- No, I wouldn't.
- Do you feel the current blocking policy is too restrictive, not restrictive enough, or OK as it is?
- I see no problems with the current policy, it works fine as it is. That's not to say it should never be changed if issues were to be found, however.
- Have you ever considered becoming a regular visitor to the Wookieepedia IRC chat?
- As a matter of fact, I already have. IRC was definitely helpful for more involvement into the wiki, but there's always Discord if IRC seems too intimidating.
- How do you feel about people who already have some influence on other Star Wars communities (TheForce.net, StarWars.com) trying to change policies here?
- People with influence should not be trying to change site policy for their own sake. If their intent is to improve the wiki, I see no problem with that.
- How many clones do you think fought in the Clone Wars? (Note: You are wrong no matter what answer you give.)
- After studying every single Clone Wars–related piece of media, I can confirm that the number is at least zero.
- Who is the most awesome Jedi of all time? (Note: The only correct answer is Kyle Katarn.)
- What's more important to you: consensus or policy?
- I wouldn't say one is more important than the other. They both have their importance in different ways.
- Have you had any previous leadership experience (in your community, on the web, etc.)?
- Does being an EC count as leadership? I've had a few other leader roles in various places, but nothing extraordinary.
- What is your attitude towards users who have quit the site or have been banned, but still continue to attempt to influence the site in any way?
- Users who left voluntarily or returned with good intentions from a temporary block should not be a problem. If they do not have good intentions or are attempting to evade a ban, they should be dealt with appropriately.
- What is your wiki philosophy?
