- I've been planning this nomination for a while now, and I think it's time to just go ahead and do it. To summarize with a huge understatement, Cade just gets things done. Admins are always having to assist him with changes to locked pages and MediaWiki edits, his bot is a monster, he helped make the "Canon" transition possible, and on top of all that his productivity as a normal user and RC patroller is top-notch. We've been losing admins lately, so I think we should reverse that trend. We're overdue for adding this worthy user to the ranks. -- Darth Culator (Talk) 18:18, September 13, 2014 (UTC)
- But..but... but... Cade can't be kicked from the IRC then. On a serious note, Cade definitely deserves it. He does crazy stuff no one else understands. And he has a bot. 501st dogma(talk) 18:28, September 13, 2014 (UTC)

- Cade's technical skills are top-notch. As Culator said, he constantly needs admins to make certain changes for him in order to enable him to carry out that technical work. It would be far easier for him to just be an admin, so he can do that sort of thing himself. As Culator also mentioned, Cade was the one who made it possible to create Canon and Legends pages the way that we currently do. It happened fast, and—from the outside looking in—he made it look easy. The Legends announcement was a big change, and Cade helped make it as painless as possible. I have concerns about Cade's attitude towards users when they make mistakes, but that's more of a cultural problem on Wookieepedia and not endemic to Cade, so I won't make that hold up a nomination that, from a technical standpoint, will be very useful to the community. I would just leave him with a piece of advice: remember that editing on a website like this can be hard, and it has a big learning curve, so be aware of how your words come across. - Brandon Rhea(talk) 00:33, September 14, 2014 (UTC)
- I might repeat some of the things already said, but that just speaks to Cade's virtues. Cade's contributions to Wookieepedia have been unparalleled. He pretty much single-handedly designed and implemented both the new Main Page navigation and the Canon/Legends tabs systems, and he has the second most edits in Wookieepedia history among registered, non-bot users (to say nothing of RoboCade, who is number one on that list). He commands invaluable technical skills when it comes to streamlining coding and templates. His regular involvement in community initiatives (WookieeProject: TOR foremost among them) and the article nomination systems has set him apart as a leader among Wookieepedia. When Cade first joined Wookieepedia as a noob, the common complaint against him was a lack of maturity, but I haven't heard anyone say "Cade acts immature" in a very long time. He's grown up a lot in the handful of years he's been here, and I, for one, have come to respect him as much as I do any of my admin colleagues. Cade has absolutely earned the right to be an administrator on Wookieepedia, and considering we've lost three admins in the past week alone, there couldn't be a better time to give him the keys to the executive bathroom. Toprawa and Ralltiir (talk) 01:39, September 14, 2014 (UTC)
- 100% per Tope. Cade has done more to improve the site over the last year than any other user. His technical skills are some of the best on the site, not to mention his article writing skills. Making him an administrator will only give him more of an opportunity to improve the site.--Exiled Jedi

- I completely agree with all who have posted above me. Cade is here every single day. He is one of the hardest working individuals on the site, and he has proven time and time again that he can be trusted with this. He will use this to make the site a better place. - I'm all for it. He's so involved around here, I just figured the only reason he wasn't already an admin was because he wasn't interested in the position or something. ProfessorTofty (talk) 18:48, September 14, 2014 (UTC)
- I believe the only reason keeping Cade from achieving adminship was his previous attitude in general (which I don't feel like describing) but that has now improved and nothing else keeps him from that spot. So yeah, I'll vote for Cade because he is capable of all responsabilities (and proven so) that an admin requires and more. Plus, the administration ranks have lost a couple members recently and it's always good to replenish the ranks with one user as (or perhaps even more) capable/talented. Winterz (talk) 21:39, September 14, 2014 (UTC)
- Cade's contributions are extremely useful to the site, which is why I am voting here. Technical superiority aside, I am concerned about his past tendency to bite at noobs, but that has improved. Corellian Premier

- Cade has definitely grown up a lot since joining the site, and even since opposed his rollback nomination a year and a half ago. His technical skills are amazing; I still struggle to fully understand {{Top}}, and the new {{Infoboxframe}} and {{Infocell}} that he just built are something (properly templatizing the raw code of infoboxes) that I've been wanting to do for a couple of years but wasn't sure how to go about it. And RoboCade is like a god of Wookieepedia or something like that. Cade will make a fine admin; we just have to make sure that this doesn't open the door for RoboCade to go Skynet. —MJ— Holocomm 18:06, September 15, 2014 (UTC)

Very committed to the site. Keep up the good work. Nahdar Vebb (talk) 15:44, September 22, 2014 (UTC)(Vote struck, reason: Per policy: Fewer than 50 mainspace edits in last six months -- Toprawa and Ralltiir (talk) 19:58, September 25, 2014 (UTC))
- The deciding factor for me is not Cade's technical skills—as admirable as they are—but his personal growth in terms of his character. Without a doubt, he's grown from spending time on the site, as much as the site has grown and benefited from his expertise. CC7567 (talk) 19:57, September 22, 2014 (UTC)
- As much as I hate Cade's guts, he does good stuff. Ok, maybe I don't /hate/ him...or at least his guts. They haven't done anything to me. :P In all seriousness, though, this is definitely an easy vote. No one works as tirelessly as Cade to make this site better. MasterFred

For a person who already spends an unhealthy amount of time in front of a computer screen editing the Wook every single day, this will be detrimental to his social life. Not that he has much of a social life to start with, but, I mean come on man, Cade will likely never put down the Wook. He will lose even more sleep trying to nominate the largest possible articles to FA status. I fear he will slip into a state of insanity within the first week of being admin. His bot will began to make better edits than he does. He will began to think that TCW is the greatest thing to ever happen to Star Wars. Once he makes a page for every single redlink, he will began adding fanon just to give him something to do. With his bleary eyes he will begin to bark at every shadow that moves in his room. The sun will become something unfamiliar to him; it will become legend. He will neglect all personal hygiene. All his meals will be comprised of Doritos, Twinkies, bologna sandwiches, and Gatorade. Slowly, he will shrivel up into a lifeless hulk that endlessly patrols the recent changes until the great day of judgement. Let us not think about the positives Cade will bring let us be thoughtful and kind to our fellow half bot half human friend and think about the negatives that this will have on Cade's health, personal and social life (not to mention sex life). - I just want to point out what an incredibly idiotic thing it is to "joke oppose" on someone's admin nomination. The nominated user has worked toward this honor for years, laboring on Wookieepedia for countless hours to earn the respect of our community, yet you find it amusing to distract from their moment with something as stupid as this. You think it's funny, but it still counts against the vote totals, assuming you meet voting eligibility. It's not funny. It's disrespectful to Cade and the community, and I'm extremely grateful we had the foresight to implement a rule that allows us to negate these votes. The next person who "joke opposes" this nomination, regardless of your voting eligibility, is going to be blocked for the remainder of the vote for site disruption. - Though my current (lack of) edit count forbids me from voting, I'll just chime in here anyway to say that I would wholeheartedly vote in Cade's favour. — DigiFluid(Whine here) 03:57, September 14, 2014 (UTC)
- I believe that until I make 50 main space edits, I've lost my right to vote due to my absence so I will voice my approval for Cade as admin here.

Optional candidate Q&A
- Why do you want to become an administrator?
- Becoming an adminstrator expands my ability to help Wookieepedia as a site.
- In your opinion, what is the role of an administrator?
- Administrators are regular users with additional responsibilities and powers, and ones who should be willing to act in leadership roles amongst our community.
- In your view, do administrators hold a technical or political position?
- Both; at its core, the position of an administrator is a technical one, but there are political elements in the responsibilities and expectations that accompany the position. It's an unavoidable fact that administrators have to act as a good representative of the site, as they are seen as such.
- How do you feel admins should use their power/stand in comparison with other users?
- Administrators should use their powers properly as benefits the site, and should not use those powers in order to raise themselves above other users
- Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or do you feel other users have caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
- I've had conflicts with other users on different topics, but I've found that they've almost always been resolved by discussion with the other user. If it's a topic that I found myself angry or emotional about, it's best to take a step back and often seek the opinions or help of other users.
- Of your articles or contributions to Wookieepedia, are there any with which you are particularly pleased, and why?
- Project Hero and my TOR work, simply for the amount of work I've put into them.
- What sysop chores do you anticipate helping with?
- A lot of the same technical stuff I've been doing; adding functionality to stuff like infoboxes, Special:Upload, etc. Beyond that, the standard sysop and anti-vandalism work.
- How important is it for you to be involved in things such as CT, FA, GA, and other community-centered items that involve discussion and voting?
- I think it's very important, and I make it a point to be involved in as many of them as I can.
- Do you think admins performing actions (I.e. deletions, blocks, etc.) for reasons not covered on policy should be sanctioned/punished? If so, how?
- Policy doesn't cover everything, but where it does, it should be followed. If those actions taken are in violation of policy, then they should not be taken, and that administrator should be spoken to; as a last resort there's always the removal of their rights.
- What is your policy, if any, of welcoming new users? Should you welcome a new user, do you look at his/her contributions beforehand? What about anonymous IPs?
- New users are always welcome, even IPs, and unless it's obvious they're not in good faith, it's best to welcome them and explain their errors if they make mistakes. I've lost count of the times I've seen IPs fix grammar and spelling mistakes that regular users have missed in their articles.
- How would you react if someone undeleted an article you'd mistakenly speedied? Under what circumstances would you consider it appropriate to undelete an article mistakenly speedied by another administrator, if any, and how would you approach this task?
- Definitely discuss it with that other person, probably in IRC or another place of discussion. As for the second, there's WP:AA, so discussion with the other administrator is the right way to proceed.
- How would you react if your user page was vandalized? Under what circumstances would you block the offender? Is there anything else that you would do in this situation?
- I'd revert it and warn the user, and follow the standard vandalism warning system as I would do with any other article. Blocking should always be preceded by warnings.
- Under what circumstances would you consider blocking an established user?
- Established users shouldn't receive special treatment, but if a situation arose where they needed to be blocked, I would attempt to communicate with them and resolve the situation. I also wouldn't make that decision on my own; I'd seek other administrators' opinions.
- If you could change any one thing about Wookieepedia, what would it be?
- Hmmm. Nothing major springs to mind; a lot of the things I've wanted to change or add, I've found a way to do so through consensus or coding. That's what the consensus track is for.
- Would you look at a glass to be half-empty or half-full?
- Depends on what's in the glass.
- Do you feel the current blocking policy is too restrictive, not restrictive enough, or OK as it is?
- It's effective as it currently stands from what I can see.
- Have you ever considered becoming a regular visitor to the Wookieepedia IRC chat?
- Already am.
- How do you feel about people who already have some influence on other Star Wars communities (TheForce.Net, StarWars.com) trying to change policies here?
- If those people become or already are an established member of our community, they're welcome to contribute and have a voice in our site discussions and policy-making.
- How many clones do you think fought in the Clone Wars? (Note: You are wrong no matter what answer you give.)
- Man, I don't even remember the last number they gave.
- Who is the most awesome Jedi of all time? (Note: The only correct answer is Kyle Katarn.)
- The Hero of Tython, of course.
- What's more important to you: consensus or policy?
- Policy's important, but consensus can and often does change policy. When policy fails or does not apply, we should fall back on consensus.
- Have you had any previous leadership experience (in your community, on the web, etc.)?
- I led my school snack bar and have led groups in school and college.
- What is your attitude towards users who have quit the site or have been banned, but still continue to attempt to influence the site in any way?
- I'm not a fan of banned users trying to come back as sockpuppets, but if former users who haven't been banned are willing to return and commit themselves again, then they're welcome to do so and join in our discussions and work. I've seen a number of former users return and become valuable parts of our community once more.
- What is your wiki philosophy?
- Benefit the site first and foremost with my actions; I enjoy being here, and helping the site only helps my enjoyment of the site.
