  1. I ask that the Wookieepedia community consider Ayrehead as our next candidate for administrator. Ayrehead joined Wookieepedia in October 2010. Since that time, he has come to number among the most trusted, level-headed, and capable of Wookieepedia's contributors. As one of our most prolific article writers, he is a constant presence on all three article-nomination pages as both nominator and reviewer. This has earned him entrance into both the EduCorps and AgriCorps reviewing bodies. To his credit, he has also become a regular presence in our IRC channel, which enables him to coordinate with other users and the rest of the administration in real time on a daily basis. From my own personal experience with him there, I can say this has greatly contributed to his development as an editor by strengthening his working relationships with others. As a British user, his time zone enables him to be on the wiki when our admin presence is typically lacking, which is critical for vandalism patrolling. But perhaps most important of all, Ayrehead would become our first "Canon Admin"; that is, among Wookieepedia's contributors who focus mostly or entirely on New Canon subjects, Ayrehead is the first of that group to step up and demonstrate himself as a deserving admin candidate, which I think is a hugely important step to bridge the gap between this new generation of editors and our veteran administrators (and I'm one of them), who are heavily Legends-biased.   16. I'm a bit late to this, but I'll echo all the above comments. Ayre has proven himself to be someone always looking to improve and learn. In the years I've known him, he has grown extensively, and I know he will continue to do so. He is most definitely a responsible, level headed user, and will be a fantastic administrator. Why do you want to become an administrator?

I'm highly invested in Wookieepedia and as such want to see it improve and succeed as much as possible. Hopefully with the increased responsibilities of adminship I will be able to facilitate this more effectively. I also enjoy working with the community here and so want to be able to help out others wherever possible, the new permissions that come with adminship would increase the number of areas I could be useful in. In your opinion, what is the role of an administrator?

The role of admins should primarily be to ensure that the policies decided on by the Wiki community are adhered to by all users, and that important community proceedings like consensus votes are carried out smoothly and acted upon. I think administrators should also offer guidance to any user that needs it and be available for users to reach and learn from. Ayrehead02 (talk) 20:58, January 2, 2018 (UTC)

In your view, do administrators hold a technical or political position?

I feel the position should mostly be a technical one, with administrators maintaining the site and enforcing policies without bias; however, I recognise that the admins are also often the most experienced users on the site and so are able to offer valuable insight during any vote or decision making process. How do you feel admins should use their power/stand in comparison with other users?

Admin's power should be used without bias within the guidelines set out by our policies. As mentioned above, I'd recommend that all users listen to advice administrators give when voting on new policies, but ultimately an admin's vote should count for no more than any other eligible users. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or do you feel other users have caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?

During my earliest days on Wookieepedia I did become frustrated over edit conflicts that I didn't understand, which has shown me how important it is to properly communicate with new users and make sure they understand why they've been reverted or had their work changed. Of your articles or contributions to Wookieepedia, are there any with which you are particularly pleased, and why?

What sysop chores do you anticipate helping with?

I will increase the amount of Recent Changes patrolling I do and so be ready to combat vandalism and give warnings or block users/delete pages as is appropriate, but also offer guidance to new users that I encounter there. How important is it for you to be involved in things such as CT, FA, GA, and other community-centered items that involve discussion and voting?

I think that being visible and involved in any community items on Wookieepedia (bar Discussions) is important in order to make admins seem more accessible to other users and also to ensure that the items proceed within policy. Ayrehead02 (talk) 20:58, January 2, 2018 (UTC)

Do you think admins performing actions (I.e. deletions, blocks, etc.) for reasons not covered on policy should be sanctioned/punished? If so, how?

I think it certainly depends on the circumstances, but ideally if something isn't covered in policy then any action should be discussed with other administrators or users and a consensus reached before it is taken. What is your policy, if any, of welcoming new users? Should you welcome a new user, do you look at his/her contributions beforehand? What about anonymous IPs?

I think that welcoming new users and directing them to our policies as well as offering guidance is vital and saves them frustration and administrators unnecessary work. Ayrehead02 (talk) 20:58, January 2, 2018 (UTC)

How would you react if someone undeleted an article you'd mistakenly speedied? Under what circumstances would you consider it appropriate to undelete an article mistakenly speedied by another administrator, if any, and how would you approach this task?

If the article was mistakenly deleted then another admin reverting it is perfectly reasonable. If there's a conflict of opinions then it should have been discussed prior to the deletion, although if that isn't possible then I think the page being undeleted until a consensus is reached is reasonable. How would you react if your user page was vandalized? Under what circumstances would you block the offender? Is there anything else that you would do in this situation?

If my userpage was vandalised in a clearly malicious manner then I would look at the contributions of the user responsible. If it was their first edit, or part of a pattern of vandalism I would likely block them for a reasonable period. If the act was out of character for them, or possibly not malicious then I would give them a warning and try to establish why they edited the page. Ayrehead02 (talk) 20:58, January 2, 2018 (UTC)

Under what circumstances would you consider blocking an established user?

I think that no matter how established a user is, if they ignore clear warnings from other users and admins then they should be banned like anyone else. Ayrehead02 (talk) 20:58, January 2, 2018 (UTC)

If you could change any one thing about Wookieepedia, what would it be?

I have a pipe dream of us one day having video tutorials for some editing practices. More realistically though I'd love to see an increase in the use of audio clips in articles. Ayrehead02 (talk) 20:58, January 2, 2018 (UTC)

Do you feel the current blocking policy is too restrictive, not restrictive enough, or OK as it is?

Have you ever considered becoming a regular visitor to the Wookieepedia IRC chat?

How do you feel about people who already have some influence on other Star Wars communities (TheForce.net, StarWars.com) trying to change policies here?

Ultimately Wookieepedia is run by the community, and so if the members of other communities are willing to fully participate in editing the Wiki and earn the right to vote then they have the right to influence policy as much as anyone else. The opinions of our readers are also important even if they don't edit, but ultimately I'm less interested in demands from groups who have no interest in contributing anything or even attempting to work within the voting systems we have agreed upon using on the site. Well my theory is that if you take CT-7567's trooper designation and times it by Karen Traviss' birth date, then divide that by the number of scales on Waru and add Order 66, before multiplying all that by the square root of the number of retweets on Pablo Hidalgo's next tweet, then you've probably wasted a bunch of time on something that probably isn't ever going to be properly established. What's more important to you: consensus or policy?

What is your attitude towards users who have quit the site or have been banned, but still continue to attempt to influence the site in any way?
