Things to do
Update required for The Clone Wars: Wild Space.- Thoroughly checked the novel, and it seems like the appearance was added based on the fact that the "twelve members" of the Jedi High Council appeared in the book. However, we don't know if TCW is going to keep the original High Council roster (they've already killed off one), so it doesn't seem prudent to assume that Rancisis is part of the new roster unless we get confirmation. - Canonically, Rancisis is on the council until 19 BBY. That's canon that hasn't been changed, and we can't ignore it on the basis that it might be changed at a future date. It is absolutely prudent to assume that Rancisis is one of those twelve. Menkooroo 20:45, January 10, 2012 (UTC)
- I would say the same if Rancisis has appeared in TCW-related material, but he hasn't yet. While we don't know exactly why he hasn't appeared in the TV series, I still don't find it prudent to assume it's him without direct confirmation. In general, all previous Clone Wars canon is already in question because of the TV series, and I don't feel that rushing to conclusions is a good thing to do until the mess is sorted out by official sources. - Respecting existing canon isn't rushing to conclusions at all. There is direct confirmation that Rancisis is a member of the Jedi Council at this time --- it's from C-canon, and C-canon that hasn't been contradicted by anything to boot. C-canon doesn't need to be confirmed in T-canon to be valid, and if we don't assume that Rancisis is in Wild Space, then we're ignoring canon. His lack of appearance in the TV series has no bearing on his presence on the Council. The TV show is yet to show all twelve members of the council, but we know that the council roster includes Rancisis because of C-canon. C-canon can be thrown out if and only if higher canon contradicts it, and nothing involving Rancisis has been contradicted by higher canon. Rancisis might be retconned out of the council at a future date, but he hasn't yet, so we need to roll with current canon, which places him on the council at this time.
- It's like when Aayla Secura made a vague reference to her Master in Season 1. Based on C-canon, Wookieepedia knew that that was Quinlan Vos. We didn't ignore that canonical fact on the assumption that TCW might later decide that she had a different Master. Menkooroo 03:53, January 28, 2012 (UTC)
- I can't say that I'm still not hesitant about Rancisis's status in TCW, but I do agree with your points. I'll have the article updated by the Inqmoot tomorrow, though I think it would be worth adding a Bts note about the fact that the book doesn't explicitly identify him. - That sounds like a good idea. I'm very hesitant about his TCW status too, as I fully expect them to pull an Even Piell and kill him. :S Menkooroo 05:31, January 28, 2012 (UTC)
