Meeting Fifteen will take place at 0:00 UTC on Sunday, February 24th, which is 7:00pm Eastern Time on Saturday, February 23rd for North America.

Agenda

Expand as needed.

  • Hire new Inqs - I've got two people in mind: a newcomer to the process that already shows the nominators what the Inq is all about, and a seasoned veteran that's been doing the same for so long it's a shame he's not on the roster.
  • Review Beilert Valance - Unsourced quotes are unbecoming for an FA. Also lacks reffing in the P&T and other paragraphs.
  • Review Mandalore the Ultimate—this article really needs to be updated. Not FA stuff in its current incarnation.
  • Discuss the role and future of the Inquisitorius. There has been some controversy and a resignation as of late. We need to talk this out before the ugliness spreads.
    • That's wonderfully vague. Should be an enjoyable meeting item. Atarumaster88 Jedi Order (Talk page) 22:36, 15 February 2008 (UTC)
      • Since Imp won't be there, I'm changing this item to "Do we have lots of Inqs, some of whom never review anything, or do we kick some people out." Or something like that. Atarumaster88 Jedi Order (Talk page) 23:57, 23 February 2008 (UTC)
  • It's called The Toprawa Report, folks, and if you haven't read it, you should. And it's even more of a reason why we should hire this man first. That's why the first meeting item will be the first meeting item. It's a very thorough recommendation of going back to the bad old days, when we tore apart existing FAs. Call it Round Two. At any rate, the karker is massive, so we'll discuss that during the meeting. But nobody expected this Wookieepedia Inquisition.
  • A minor thing here, but could we update the intros of FA's in the Queue before they go on the main page? IMO, seeing "wielding a flamboyant mohawk..." on there was the last straw.
  • Check over articles placed on probation last time.

Culprits

Contrary to Greyman's analysis of the report, the following are the biggest remaining "culprits" that should be reviewed; i.e., articles with paragraphs and/or sections that lack sourcing, not just self-sourcing, {{Fact}} tags, content approaching tags, or otherwise:

Those with no lives

  1. Graestan(Talk) 03:18, 4 February 2008 (UTC)
  2. Gonk (Gonk!) 12:27, 4 February 2008 (UTC)
  3. Hopefully so. If I don't make it, I'll provide massive amounts of input on agenda items. Atarumaster88 Jedi Order (Talk page) 00:21, 5 February 2008 (UTC)
  4. Unless I acquire a social life within the next few days. Green Tentacle (Talk) 20:57, 19 February 2008 (UTC)
  5. Unless I acquire a social life within the next hour. :P —Xwing328(Talk) 22:58, 23 February 2008 (UTC)

Those with no lives who are also lazy bastards

  1. Can't make it anymore, due to other plans. Please see below for my comments, thanks. Greyman(Paratus) 17:37, 22 February 2008 (UTC)
  2. My sister's birthday, so I'll be gone at the time of the meeting. Hobbes(Tiger's Lair) 16:03, 23 February 2008 (UTC)

Whining/voting from those who think we care

  • From Hobbes15
    • Probation for Valance. The article's not horrible, but it's not really up to current standards.
      • No sourcing in the infobox.
      • Unsourced quotes, as pointed out.
      • No sourcing in A New Quest or P&T.
      • A few prose issues, from what I can see— for example, the second paragraph of The Last Stand of Beilert Valance seems to incorporate a quote bizarrely.
      • Some of the section titles are just plain stupid.
    • Probation for Mandalore as well if no update is forthcoming, but that's the only difficulty I can see with it unless it has deteriorated since its FAN; the part of the article that is currently written is definitely good enough for a FA IMO.
    • New Inqs: I think Greyman pretty much sums up my thoughts on this matter, except for the fact that I think Toprawa has shown that he is more than worthy of the position. I vote yes to him, Fiolli, and Goodwood. If Chack continues reviewing well and consistently, I wouldn't be opposed if he was nominated next month, either. Also, per Gonk and Grey on Cull— I don't understand why he resigned when there are a few other Inqs who haven't contributed to the FAN page nearly as much.
      • Does Toprawa have this report on a subpage somewhere? I haven't come across it, so I figured I'd ask here.
        • Ah, I see.
    • Toprawa Report: I'll have a look at the ones posted on this page, but the only articles I'd seriously be concerned about are those that passed around a year or more ago, before the requirements got more stringent. For now, I think I'll abstain.
    • FA intros: Absolutely.
    • Role and future of the Inquisitorius: All I can say for sure is that I do not agree with Imp on this issue. That being said, I don't feel I know enough about the issue to vote on it, so I'll abstain for the moment.
  • Enjoy the meeting, all. Hobbes(Tiger's Lair) 16:03, 23 February 2008 (UTC)
  • Imperialles:
    • New Inqs: I'll lend my vote to Graestan on this one.
    • Beilert Valance: Probation unless the problems are fixed by the time of the meeting.
    • Mandalore the Ultimate: Probation unless the problems are fixed by the time of the meeting.
    • Future and role of the Inq: In my opinion, the Inq should be a small team of dedicated reviewers instead of a large group of specially privileged people. Thus, it would be nice if people who aren't planning on performing Inq duties would simply resign—there's no reason for them to cling to membership. That being said, I'm not opposed to "hiring" new Inqs; my concern is merely with keeping old, inactive ones.
    • Toprawa Report: Read through it all, and I'm very impressed. Hire this man. Anyway, a lot of the concerns raised in the report are relatively easy fixes (especially infobox sourcing). Someone just needs to address them. Other articles have more serious issues, and these should be discussed by the Inq.
    • I regretfully will not be attending this meeting. --Imperialles 16:55, 16 February 2008 (UTC)
  • From Greyman:
    • New Inqs: I support both nominations of Fiolli and Goodwood, because they have both spent months working and improving their ways of operation on the FAN page, both with respect to the articles they are nominating and how they interact with others on the page—they are both to the point where their objections are done tactfully, done without attitude (or air of superiority), and are improving the FANs that they are reviewing. Fiolli, and especially Goodwood since he first approached me back in Sept '07 about becoming an Inq, have demonstrated over the last two months that they understand what it takes to operate on the FAN page, and work with other editors/nominators in both a respectful and non-arrogant tone. I fully support both of these nominations—any others, at this point in the game, I have to regretfully oppose their nomination(s) as I don't think they have gotten to the point where they exhibit the attributes I mentioned above. Likewise, if any others are nominated, I would not be oppose to giving them a month (or until the next Inq meeting) to work on anything that may be holding them back, and then to have their names discussed again at that time. One last note: up until he stepped down, Cull was just as active (if not more) than others on the current Inq roster. If he wants to come back, I would support his reinstatement 150%.
    • Beilert Valance: From what I can see, this doesn't need to have any drastic action taken against it. The infobox needs sourcing, as does the P&T and quotes, but this is really all minor stuff that can be easily rectified by either the nominator (if they are made aware of it and/or asked), or someone else who has the Marvel comics that Valance appears in. Probation is my vote, during which time that stuff can be sourced.
    • Mandalore the Ultimate: Per Hobbes. The article itself hasn't changed that much, if at all, since it became an FA. So, if all that's required is an update from the sourced mentioned, I think we can track down someone who has access to those comics. IIRC from having read the said comics, there really isn't that much expansion that needs to be done. Probation.
    • Discuss the role and future of the Inquisitorius: I've discussed this in private with several active Inq, and since I can't be there to voice my opinion, I have to allow Ataru and Graestan to speak for me—my views run almost parallel with the two of theirs.
    • The Toprawa Report: Thank you, Toprawa, for taking the time and effort to compile a list like this. However, I really wasn't impressed with what was put into this report, simply because most of it was infobox sourcing and/or "this paragraph isn't sourced" when those paragraphs in question are actually self-sourcing. That being said, I did go through every FA that was mentioned on the list to take a look at them, and there are a small handful of older FAs that do need to be reviewed, and which we would have come around to eventually with our monthly meetings. I lend my voice to Graestan for this topic.
    • Updating FA intro's for the main page: Of course.
    • Have a good meeting everyone ;) Greyman(Paratus) 17:37, 22 February 2008 (UTC)
  • I expect to make it, but because there's a chance I won't:
    • Per Hobbes on Valance and Mandalore.
    • Per Grey on Fiolli, Goodwood, and Cull. *pounds fists on table* Bring back Cull! Bring back Cull!
    • Discuss the role and future of the Inquisitorius: I don't think it's possible for the Inquisitorius to be a small, dedicated group of reviewers. Even assuming that such a group could be sustainable, we all have different interests, areas of specialization, and yes, RL responsibilities. Considering our FA rate, we need as many Inqs as we can get.
    • Per Grey on Toprawa report and the FA intro thing. Gonk (Gonk!) 18:05, 22 February 2008 (UTC)
  • Xwing328
    • New Inqs: We can use the help if you guys think they have proven themselves.
    • Beilert Valance: Probation.
    • Mandalore the Ultimate: Probation.
    • Future and role of the Inq: Continue to review FAs and make sure they are up to our ever-increasing standards. Only get rid of Inqs if they break any rules, don't edit up to our standards, etc. Hire new Inqs if they prove themselves "worthy."
    • Toprawa Report: ...soon to be reading... —Xwing328(Talk) 23:18, 23 February 2008 (UTC)

Discussion related results

  • The Inquisitorius will not be a small, dedicated team of reviewers. It will be a large group of people, and if a vacation is taken by an Inq, that's okay.
  • Breathesgelatin is not evil. Nor is she banned from Inqship. Nor is she being sent to the corner for time-out. She's still loved and can play Inq any time she wants.
  • The Toprawa Report: In general, we think it's useful. Authors of FAs will be encouraged to source infoboxes, and the Inq will review all articles that have issues besides just infobox sourcing.
  • Updating intros before they go on the main page was approved.
  • New Inqs are Eyrezer (rejoined) and Fiolli. Congratulations to both of you.
  • Only Inq-voting for one's article without reviewing others is officially contrary to acceptable Inq practice. Inqship is not designed for self-promotion solely and Inqs deemed to be practicing such behavior will be appropriately approached on the issue.
  • Voting for Inq candidates may now take place under closed voting that will not be logged.
  • Other Inq-candidates that were voted on were Goodwood and Toprawa and Ralltiir.
  • Thanks to Gonk for that very spiffy image.
