Tigran Jamiro's assistant

  • Nominated by: Ayrehead02 (talk) 17:38, May 10, 2020 (UTC)
  • Nomination comments: It's rare that writing up a film character nomination uncovers an entirely new film character article for canon and Legends, but here you go!

  • I see that you attribute the quote to this character for both continuities, when in fact for Legends it is the extra identified as Corman Quien who speaks it offscreen. I believe the Legends version fails to meet notability guidelines, and does anything canon attribute this character to the offscreen voice? If not then I believe this subject also is not notable enough to have an article, similar to many deleted movie extra articles in the past. Hanzo Hasashi (talk) 01:49, May 22, 2020 (UTC)
    • Addendum: I see the citation made to the junior novel. Does that definitely establish the speaker as that individual as opposed to one of the others? For what it’s worth the original script called him the deck officer’s assistant, before attributing quote to an “assistant officer,” but despite the similar terminology it’s in fact a different extra in Legends at least. Even if the junior novel definitely establishes contrary to Legends that he’s the speaker, the Legends article should still be deleted I am pretty sure. Hanzo Hasashi (talk) 01:54, May 22, 2020 (UTC)
      • My identification is based on the original original Legends junior novel and the modern canon re-release, both of which describe the deck officer (Tigran) and his assistant running towards Han. They then describe that line as spoken by the assistant officer. In the film when Tigran enters the tauntaun stable a single person runs in with him, which I'd say can be identified as the assistant based on the books. The screenshot used in the article is of an officer stood where that assistant appears to run to in the group, and is the only member of the group that isn't one of the officers visibly stood in the stable before Tigran arrives. Given how little detail is visible of the person running in with Tigran though it's possible it's the extra named as Corman Quien, although if that's the case then Quien's article definitely needs updating. • From checking the text myself, seems ambiguous enough to not be necessarily describing the same character as aforementioned Jamiro’s assistant. Given the fact that this came from the originally Legends junior novel, I would be inclined to think the speaker is the same extra called Quien in Legends, and while I definitely agree the article in question is the “deck officer’s assistant,” I would consider it to be not confirmed as the “assistant officer” with the film line, and for that reason I would consider this to be a non notable article for both continuities. I think an article for the canon counterpart of Quien should be created though, with noting the Legends attribution of the quote to the specific extra. Hanzo Hasashi (talk) 19:08, May 22, 2020 (UTC)
          • After checking in with Tope and some others, everyone seems to agree that treating the two assistants as separate individuals makes sense. I've removed it from the article, but disagree that the article is non-notable. I think his role being specified is notable enough, which has precedent in Vildar Blin's assistant. • From directly checking junior novel, it only describes this individual as deck officer’s assistant and doesn’t specifically verify that he is also an officer as opposed to an NCO or private/other enlisted rank. Unless I am missing something, that also needs fixing. Hanzo Hasashi (talk) 00:20, May 30, 2020 (UTC)
