Liak

  • Nominated by: —Axinal Convocation Chamber 03:12, May 6, 2011 (UTC)
  • Nomination comments: Couldn't resist the urge to participate in Wookieepedia's first barn-burner. This article is a hair over 1,000 words.

Good point, talking bear
  • Can you give context on Gebnerret Vibrion in the intro? What you have in the bio (Rebel leader) is good.
    • Added
  • Can you give an idea of the timeline in the second sentence of the bio's third paragraph? ie, establish that it takes place after the several undercover missions previously mentioned?
    • Can't really find an exact year for the mission, but is "later" okay?
  • "mysteriously" in the bio is kinda POV. Even if it's mysterious to his comrades, keep in mind that the article is written omnisciently.
    • Removed, though I added that his comrades found it mysterious to keep the info while removing the POV.
  • "unable to stand fully upright in the short and narrow tunnel" is a pbp kinda detail that probably doesn't need to be in the bio, especially since it's included in p&t.
    • Removed
  • Ditto "Liak gave the others a signal to stay silent." It's a bit play-by-play; mentioning that he prepared to throw the grenade would be enough detail here. Actually, I'd even suggest leaving out the whole bit about him preparing to throw the grenade --- if he throws the grenade in the end, it's not really necessary to mention that he first prepared to throw it.
    • Removed
  • Just to confirm: Is he credited as "Christopher Trevas" in AJ10? If not, no need to use his complete first name.
    • Yep, his full name is used in AJ10.
  • Any images of the mission in AJ10, even if they don't include Liak?
    • Unfortunately, none that include Liak, but there are a couple of images I could use in the Bio. I'll get to that later today.
    • I've added an image. What do you think?—Axinal Convocation Chamber 18:12, May 16, 2011 (UTC)
  • Fine work! Menkooroo 05:42, May 16, 2011 (UTC)
    • Thanks, Menkooroo!—Axinal Convocation Chamber 11:03, May 16, 2011 (UTC)
Savaged…
  • The article currently leaves the species of most members of the commando team unnamed. Can you add in that these folks are Humans or whatever? (The same could be said about sex, but I dislike our recent trend to label everyone as "male" or "female" since gender pronouns do the job much more eloquently!)
    • Added.
  • Can you use the age ranges given in Ultimate Alien Anthology to give us an age range for "when he was middle aged"?
    • I do not own the Ultimate Alien Anthology; I hoped to specify this and his height more specifically using sources giving Wookiee life expectancy and average height, but couldn't find any. Would you mind telling me what the Anthology says on these subjects? Thanks!
      • Soitenly! UAA 183 says that height for Wooks is between 2 and 2.3 meters (so he'd be at the lower end of that, I guess), and UAA 184 says middle age is 301 to 350 standard years. ~SavageBOB sig 23:34, May 31, 2011 (UTC)
        • Thanks for looking that stuff up! It has all been added to the article.—Axinal Convocation Chamber 18:51, June 1, 2011 (UTC)
  • You currently link both stun cuffs and binder cuffs. Which was it? (I suspect the two are synonyms and those articles should be merged, but you should pick one and only link to it, I think; otherwise, the impression is that the cuffs somehow changed mid-story.)
    • I originally linked only binder cuffs; Menk added the link to stun cuffs during a copy-edit xP. I'll de-link stun cuffs unless Menk or another user has a problem with that.
  • When you talk about his height as "slightly smaller" than most of his kind, it might be a good idea to list the average height of a Wookiee from one of the alien splatbooks.
    • Added.—Axinal Convocation Chamber 18:51, June 1, 2011 (UTC)
  • His game stats reveal some more information that should probably be mentioned in his "Skills" section: He is pretty good with a bowcaster and grenade, he's competent in survival situations, he can astrogate, and fly repulsorlift vehicles and small freighters pretty well, he's quite good at close inspections (spotting hidden things), he's a very skilled brawler, he has great stamina, and he is competent at repairing repulsorlift vehicles and starships (from p. 89 of the Journal).
  • Ditto his equipment, which should be mentioned: He has an ammo bandolier, a bowcaster, a comlink, two concussion grenades, and a medpac (from p. 89 of the Journal). All from me! Great work. ~SavageBOB sig 15:36, May 31, 2011 (UTC)
    • I added to the article the information I thought was relevant, and interpreted the rest as game-mechanics. Do you think this should be interpreted as canonical information? Thank for the help, Bob!—Axinal Convocation Chamber 22:48, May 31, 2011 (UTC)
      • Yeah, this comes up from time to time. From what I've been able to gather, game stats are canon unless later contradicted. In this dude's case, I think it's worth mentioning what skills he had that are perhaps in the "good to exceptional" zone and maybe leave out the stuff he's "OK to adequate" at. If you need help interpreting the stats, let me know, but I gave my best estimation above. (A pet project of mine will be to create a guide to converting game stats to prose for both WEG and WOTC's Star Wars games.) The equipment is most assuredly not game stats, and should probably be mentioned somewhere, whether in P&T more generally or in a dedicated "Equipment" section.
        • All right, I've given that a shot. Let me know what you think. Thanks again, Bob!—Axinal Convocation Chamber 19:06, June 1, 2011 (UTC)

Darn, I forgot to check CSWE. I'll be sure to do that tomorrow.—Axinal Convocation Chamber 03:56, May 6, 2011 (UTC)

  • Nope, no entry for Liak. Halsam and Selnesh both have entries, but neither mention him.—Axinal Convocation Chamber 15:54, May 6, 2011 (UTC)
