Wingmaws were a species of carnivorous flying creature that could be found on Ashla, the primary moon of[1] the Deep Core planet[2] Tython. They would feed by picking the flesh from the bones of already-deceased prey.[1]

During the High Republic Era, after the Jedi Master Elzar Mann emerged from the ocean off Ashla's Isle of Seclusion after experiencing a Force vision, wingmaws circled in the sky above him as he lay on the shore. Though the creatures were ready to scavenge, Mann was not dead; the Jedi picked himself up and headed for his Vector to depart the moon.[1]
