A female individual was the mother of the Abednedo Path of the Open Hand member Whool and his brother, Grael. She came from a family of miners. She, her father, and her sons were all miners who sought adelyne crystals buried deep within their planet's crust. After Grael showed signs of being Force-sensitive, his mother and another parent feared that the Jedi would take him, and helped him learn to supress his powers.[1] In 382 BBY,[2] Whool mentioned his mother while telling a story to Keth Cerepath in the tapbar Enlightenment on Jedha.[1]
Behind the scenes
Whool's mother was mentioned in the short story "Tales of Enlightenment: A Different Perspective," written by George Mann and published in Star Wars Insider 215 as part of Star Wars: The High Republic's[1] Phase II[3] on December 6, 2022.[4]

- ↑ The events of "Tales of Enlightenment: A Different Perspective" take place after the Path of the Open Hand arrived on Jedha, which The High Republic: Path of Vengeance establishes was after the death of Kevmo Zink. "Tales of Enlightenment: A Different Perspective" also takes place before Keth Cerepath's death during the Battle of Jedha. As Star Wars: The High Republic Character Encyclopedia dates both Zink's death and the battle to 382 BBY, the events of "Tales of Enlightenment: A Different Perspective" must take place in the same year.
