Welding droids were droids which welded objects. They possessed a fairly simple intellect, which made them ideal for long, menial repair work. During the Jedi Civil War, T3-series utility droids were used for welding and repairs aboard the Republic Hammerhead-class cruiser Endar Spire. One welding droid worked in Watto's junkyard.
