- "To keep our history safe in these archives — to keep US safe — it falls on all of us to help wipe away the corruption. Here. You will need this. I call it a Virus-Removing Oddly Operated Machine. Or "V.R.O.O.M." for short."
- ―TU-TOR
The Virus-Removing Oddly Operated Machine, or V.R.O.O.M. for short, was a melee weapon used to destroy the corruption, a virus that plagued the Observatory and HoloSimulator on The Island. When a pilot became stranded on the island where the Observatory and HoloSimulator were located, they utilized a V.R.O.O.M. to destroy the spreading corruption.
Description
- "I assume TU-TOR has you using that "V.R.O.O.M."? Hmph. Sure, that thing is fine in a pinch, but let's give you something with a little more oomph!"
- ―Tolar Panro
The Virus-Removing Oddly Operated Machine, shortened to V.R.O.O.M., was a brown melee weapon used on The Island of a planet to remove the virus known as the corruption from the island's Observatory and HoloSimulator.[1]
History
- "There it is! Use your V.R.O.O.M. to destroy it!"
- ―TU-TOR
The pilot destroyed a Corruption Node with their V.R.O.O.M.
After crash-landing onto The Island of a planet, a pilot was met by the Twi'lek Fae Doktut, who introduced them to the droid TU-TOR. As TU-TOR informed the pilot that the Observatory was built by the Sacred Order of Ramulus to archive the history of the galaxy, its data became under attack by the spread of the corruption. In order to help wipe away the corruption, TU-TOR gave the pilot a Virus-Removing Oddly Operated Machine.[1]
Equipped with the V.R.O.O.M., the pilot entered the HoloSimulator of the Observatory to fight the corruption. Within the simulation of the Tantive IV,[1] a CR90 corvette[2], the pilot explored the ship and eventually located the source of the corruption, a Corruption Node. Using the V.R.O.O.M., the pilot destroyed the node, cleansing the corruption. Shortly after leaving the simulation, the pilot met up with Trooper Master Tolar Panro, who gave them an E-11 blaster rifle, which they promptly replaced their V.R.O.O.M. with.[1]
Behind the scenes
The Virus-Removing Oddly Operated Machine appeared in the 2021 mobile game LEGO Star Wars: Castaways. The V.R.O.O.M. serves as the first weapon the player uses and is only used in the tutorial level and cannot be used after the tutorial's completion.[1]
