A vibrocutlass was a type of bladed vibro weapon. Toht Ra, a Hylobon Enforcer and attendant aboard the First Light, the yacht of the crime lord Dryden Vos, owned a bundki vibrocutlass. Employed by Vos to confiscate guests' weapons upon boarding the First Light, Ra kept his vibrocutlass nearby in case of trouble.

Description

The vibrocutlass was a type of vibro weapon that possessed a blade and a hilt. Once such vibrocutlass had a curved silver blade and a hilt in the shape of a green dragon with a red crystal embedded into the end.[1] Another type of vibrocutlass was the bundki vibrocutlass, which could be charged and possessed a black-and-gold hilt with a straight blade that forked into two points at the tip.[2]

History

The bundki vibrocutlass was utilized by the Hylobon Enforcers, a group of Hylobon security personnel who served the crime lord Dryden Vos, public face of the Crimson Dawn criminal syndicate, aboard his yacht, the First Light. Toht Ra, a Hylobon Enforcer who acted as an attendant,[2] confiscating guests' weaponry as they boarded the yacht,[3] possessed a charged bundki vibrocutlass.[2] Ra kept his vibrocutlass at the ready, alongside a percussive cannon, in case of trouble.[3] Qi'ra used a vibrocutlass to fight Dryden Vos’s custom made petar.[4]

Behind the scenes

In the new Star Wars canon, the vibrocutlass was first mentioned on a card within Legacies, a card pack for the game Star Wars: Destiny[1] released in February of 2018,[5] which featured artwork by Joel Hustak.[1] When posting the card's artwork on Instagram, Hustak identified the pictured vibrocutlass as belonging to Hondo Ohnaka,[6] though this information is not mentioned on the Destiny card.[1]

The 2018 Anthology film, Solo: A Star Wars Story, featured the weapon's first appearance[4] through the bundki vibrocutlass, which was identified as such in the corresponding reference book Solo: A Star Wars Story The Official Guide, written by Pablo Hidalgo.[2]

In the Star Wars Legends continuity, the vibrocutlass was first mentioned in Star Wars Miniatures Battles, a core rulebook for the West End Games tabletop game system of the same name written by Stephen Crane and Paul Murphy and published in 1991.[7]
