- «Good afternoon. I'm afraid I don't understand your language. Do you speak this one?»
«I speak it.» - ―Mitth'raw'nuruodo uses the Minnisiat trade language to converse with a Vak curator
Members of the Vak species, native to the Unknown Regions planet Primea, used a language associated with the Vak script.[1] In 19 BBY,[2] the Chiss Senior Captain Mitth'raw'nuruodo, core name "Thrawn," and Caregiver Mitth'ali'astov entered an art gallery on Primea while a group of Vaks, including the gallery's curator, spoke their language. Thrawn asked the curator if she spoke the Minnisiat trade language, and the pair engaged in a conversation about the Vak culture in the tongue.[1]
Behind the scenes
The Vak language appeared in the 2020 novel Thrawn Ascendancy: Chaos Rising, Timothy Zahn's first entry in the Ascendancy Trilogy.[1]
