- "Take positions. Vader engagement drill, for what it's worth. What I'd give for a flamethrower…it would be a wonderful sight to see him on fire."
- ―Davits Draven, to Rebel Alliance Special Forces troops
The Vader engagement drill,[3] also known as the Anti-Vader drill,[4] was a combat strategy developed by Rebel Alliance General Davits Draven in order to slow down the Sith Lord Darth Vader. It was created at some point after Draven studied Vader's attack on the Profundity during the Battle of Scarif.[1] During the Battle of Mako-Ta[3] in 1 ABY,[2] Draven employed the Vader engagement drill whilst he and several other rebels, including Princess Leia Organa infiltrated the Executor, the flagship of Vader, in order to secure override codes and bring rebel starships back online after they had been sabotaged by Queen Trios of Shu-Torun. Draven's deployment of the drill allowed for Organa to successfully escape the Executor with the codes at the cost of his own life and that of his troops.[3]
