For other uses, see V-6.

The V-6 Haywire Grenade was a type of single-use ion grenade[2] created and produced by Merr-Sonn Munitions, Inc.[1] As an ion grenade, the V-6 Haywire released powerful electromagnetic pulses upon detonation, which could destroy or incapacitate any electrical and computer systems within range of the blast radius, including droids, vehicles, deflector shields, automated turrets, and other pieces of technology that were unprotected from the blast. The cost of a V-6 Haywire Grenade was sixty-five credits.[2]

Behind the scenes

The V-6 Haywire Grenade was first mentioned in the current Star Wars canon in Knights of Fate, a 2019 sourcebook supplement for Fantasy Flight Games' Star Wars: Force and Destiny roleplaying game.[2]

The grenade originated in the Star Wars Legends continuity as the V-6 haywire grenade, where it first appeared, albeit unnamed, in Pandemic Studios' Star Wars: Battlefront video game,[3] released on September 21, 2004.[4] In the game, the V-6 haywire acted as the standard grenade for the Galactic Republic's default clone trooper class. The grenade later received its name in Prima Games' Star Wars Battlefront: Prima Official Game Guide,[5] released on September 28, 2004.[6]
