The Utapaun flying squid was native to Utapau,[1] an Outer Rim Territories planet with an arid surface[2] that featured deep sinkholes and powerful hyperwind storms.[3] At some point before Utapau's occupation by military forces of the Confederacy of Independent Systems[1] in 19 BBY,[4] the Porax-38 starfighter later used by the Utapau Skyforce Air Commodore Senin Vant was taken on a joyride without its deflector shields being engaged. During the flight, an Utapaun flying squid impact left a noticeable dent and a smear on the starfighter's right wing, close to the craft's cockpit.[1]
Behind the scenes
The Utapaun flying squid was first mentioned in Curtis Saxton's 2005 reference book, Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith Incredible Cross-Sections.[1]
