Catalogue of Celestial Bodies
That will be a heck of a project, trying to get everything all arranged. Does this mean every thing will have an article. I'll have to have Chad (aka CBarbry aka WhiteBoy) about how much memory we have. -- Riffsyphon1024 15:06, 26 Mar 2005 (EST)
- Most of the minor ones will link to a list article, I still gotta change the links, but it'll do for now. Shadowtrooper 18:31, 26 Mar 2005 (EST)
- I have just created an assload of individual sector articles, that all link from the Sectors list. They are still stubs though, with one or two exceptions. -- Riffsyphon1024 19:38, 26 Mar 2005 (EST)
- Nice! This is really starting to become the Star Wars resource. Everybody's got an area they know way too much about, when that gets combined...it'll be frickin' awesome! Shadowtrooper 19:45, 26 Mar 2005 (EST)
- Be careful though. Anything you copy from TheForce.net is not appreciated by the creator of the CUSWE. I asked permission from him to copy those lists of planets, and I'm waiting for a result now. Be on the safe side. Where do you get the rest of your sources? -- Riffsyphon1024 21:19, 29 Mar 2005 (EST)
- I didn't know the CUSWE existed, so I certainly haven't used anything from that site. Most of my info comes from Essential Guides, sourcebooks (and their respective web enhancements), the Navicomp, and the occasional novel. I try to cite all my sources for big projects like the Catalogue of Celestial Bodies|catalogue; if I don't cite it, it came from my head (how it got there in the first place is still a mystery). Just a reminder
Since many of us waiting for Episode III and working on here would like to avoid spoilers at all costs, please note that on those articles relating to Episode III, and include it in the edit summary before I waltz in thinking something's okay and its not. And another thing
I would hope that we become more creative in the awards process. I need to post that no actual medals can be used for copyright problems. Please cite your Corellian Cross and Endor Medal, as they seem to be real medals, but renamed. Just keeping things in check. -- Riffsyphon1024 15:13, 7 Apr 2005 (EDT)
- Sorry, I'm still not used to having copyrights breathing down my neck. I'll say where I got them from. I ony used 'em 'cause I like 'em, I'm not planning on using anymore copyrighted awards.Shadowtrooper 18:29, 7 Apr 2005 (EDT)
- Oh, you meant don't use 'em at all. Alright, they're gone. I'll make sure future submissions are original. Shadowtrooper 19:57, 7 Apr 2005 (EDT)

Cardia or Carida?
I believe that Cardia is incorrect, by misspelling, and should be merged with Carida. Is there proof of a planet such named, even though its nearly identical to the Carida article. -- Riffsyphon1024 00:42, 9 Apr 2005 (EDT)
- Aww, crap. This is really a bad week for me. :( Carida is the right one, go ahead and merge 'em. (So not my week!) Shadowtrooper 13:01, 9 Apr 2005 (EDT)
Template:DF-JK and Template:NJO
If you've been on my work-in-progress page you've probably seen the NJO template. I also did something like it for the Dark Forces/Jedi Knight videogame series (basically ripoffs of Template:Films). I was thinking that all of the longer game and book series could use one. It would save on space, help to interconnect articles, and provide some uniformity. These first two are more or less to see what general reation to them would be. Any feedback would be appreciated. Shadowtrooper 20:11, 1 May 2005 (UTC)
- They both look good. I can't find anything wrong with them. -- Riffsyphon1024 20:22, 1 May 2005 (UTC)
- Thanks fer the feedback :-) Shadowtrooper 20:54, 1 May 2005 (UTC)
Moving info from Stars to Systems
Seeing how these star articles are turning out, wouldn't it seem more appropriate to put this information (the orbits of the bodies) in system articles? Those systems will always be stubs unless we do so, and then they can link back to info on the star itself. -- Riffsyphon1024 14:19, 4 May 2005 (UTC)
- Sounds good, but leave a copy of the orbits on the star page. The idea (eventually) is to have all stars and planets include a list of known orbiting bodies (natural satilites). Shadowtrooper 14:23, 4 May 2005 (UTC)
- So you want two copies of the orbiting bodies floating around? Refer to my edit on Coruscant Prime and you see that by providing a direct link to its system, one can still find out. -- Riffsyphon1024 14:29, 4 May 2005 (UTC)
Depth
Could you please explain why "depth" is the more appropriate term in the infobox, when height would describe it better, when talking about the 3 three spatial dimensions of something? -- Riffsyphon1024 17:41, 5 May 2005 (UTC)
- Well, for one, depth is the term used in many publications. Second, tecnically speaking, when referring to 3D the dimensions are length, width, and depth. If you're still not convinced, I 'spose we'll just use height. Shadowtrooper 13:47, 6 May 2005 (UTC)
- Mind stating which publications those come from? -- Riffsyphon1024 18:55, 6 May 2005 (UTC)
- The Incredible Cross-Sections, and I believe SWTC. And I've got an idea, why not just put "height/depth"? It provides both the more and less technical terms. Shadowtrooper 22:55, 6 May 2005 (UTC)

WookieeProject Starships
Hey there. I've noticed that you've been adding some infoboxes to starship articles, and I thought you might be interested in joining our project on starships to make the articles more uniform (including the development of an infobox template and article structure). Take a look here at the Star Wars Wiki:WookieeProject Starships|WookieeProject Starships. I've only just setup the barebones structure today, and we'll start filling in the details soon. --SparqMan 04:35, 12 May 2005 (UTC)
- Actually, I've started Star Wars:WookieeProject Vehicles|WookieeProject Vehicles, that encompases starships, ground vehicles, etc. I'd love if you'd join up, any help you can provide would be appreciated. Shadowtrooper 01:41, 13 May 2005 (UTC)
- We can probably merge these projects together, although I don't see why you're using an included infobox rather than a simple template. --SparqMan 02:40, 13 May 2005 (UTC)
- I don't really know how to make that kind of template, if you can make one it would probably make it easier on others. Shadowtrooper 02:43, 13 May 2005 (UTC)
Great stuff
Man, i had no idea you had written soooooooooooo many articles. I am jealous and must try harder. --Mantus 17:56, 17 May 2005 (UTC)
- Agreed. You have done alot of stuff regarding new articles. -- Riffsyphon1024 19:04, 6 Jun 2005 (UTC)
Note: I ask if you really think we need to add that template to every astrographic object or area in the galaxy. It seems a bit much to suddenly douse everything with templates. -- Riffsyphon1024 03:49, 15 Jun 2005 (UTC)
- It's not gonna be on every one, just those whose sources are unverified. Displaying our sources is professional, and lends us credibility. I'll lay off the page tagging for now though, try to focus on researching those pages I tagged so the tags can be removed. -- Shadowtrooper 03:54, 15 Jun 2005 (UTC)
- Well I just wondering since it seemed that way. Most of my contributions regarding systems and sectors come from there and I trust him to be accurate since he cites his sources and pays close attention to detail. No harm done though. -- Riffsyphon1024 04:03, 15 Jun 2005 (UTC)
- That's cool, I just put the tag on pages that didn't say where they got their sources, so the tag serves the purpose of stating that the source(s) is/are assumed, not verified. If at least some of the info definitely comes from nav-computer, then the message goes away no harm done. -- Shadowtrooper 15:36, 15 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Copyvio
Riffsyphon tells me you have the Essential Guide to Vehicles- would it be possible for you to do me a favor, and look up the Carrack article? Because they seem rather similar to me, which would be a copyvio; but before I go slapping a copyvio on an article, I prefer to doublecheck. Thanks. --Maru 16:38, 17 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Infoboxes
I saw your recent edits on the ship template and on the Delta-7 fighter, and I must say that I'm impressed -- they look nice. However, on the Delta-7 article, I saw that you manually created the high-level infobox for that specific ship. While this looks great, I'm not sure if using maually generated infoboxes is the best idea. Besides being a hassle to code, they can deter newcomers and take up a lot of space (well, relatively). As I said in my question here, I think we should establish more guidelines regarding infobox type/usage for various categories. What do you think? Thanks, RMF 19:07, 5 February 2006 (UTC)
- Replied Shadowtrooper talk 19:16, 5 February 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks for the prompt reply. I don't know if it's the proper usage, but the standard way of using high level infoboxes is to place all the source code on a template page and then reference that for each article. This is what you would put in the article: (a fictional article using the ship template, which already has the source code)
{{ship|
image=
name=Alpha starfighter
manufacturer=Rothana Heavy Engineering|
line=Alpha series
model=Alpha-class starfighter
And so on, using the templates' fields. This is the standard way, but not necessarily the best. Although much easier to code/edit/use, the disadvantage of this is that all the fields on a template will show up on all of the articles that reference it, even when some fields aren't needed. Example: if you use the ship template with a TIE/LN starfighter, a number of the fields don't apply (such as shielding, hyperdrive). Worse, on articles with only a little information, many of the fields must be labeled "unknown." The advantage of the current method (using pl, plf, and plh) is that it is easily modifiable, allowing only the information that is known to be placed on the article page. The disadvantage of this is that it lacks uniformity and doesn't look nearly as nice as high-level 'boxes (e.g. planet, ship). Your method, using customized high level infoboxes for each page, has its own advantages and disadvantages. I'm not saying any method is right, I would just like to see more guidelines and regularity. Keep up the good work. RMF 19:34, 5 February 2006 (UTC)
- I was thinking about our dilemma here and I came up with an idea: suppose we created an individual infobox for each ship, but instead of placing it on the article page we created a new template and simply reference that? For example, on the Delta-7 article, we could cut the infobox code and paste it into a template, one entitled Template:Infobox/Delta-7 Aethersprite-class light interceptor. Then, in the article, we would simply put the following at the beginning:

This way, we have all the advantages of a custom high-level infobox without all the messy code. Thoughts? RMF 21:51, 6 February 2006 (UTC)
- I went ahead and implemented this on a number of different articles: Aggressive ReConnaissance-170 starfighter, Delta-7 Aethersprite-class light interceptor, Alpha-3 Nimbus-class V-wing starfighter, Eta-2 Actis-class light interceptor, even the AT-TE page (I used different colors and fields, of course). It works very well, and looks neat and clean on the article page itself. The only disadvantage I can see is the lack of uniformity/regularity among ships: we can negate this (for the most part) by referring to a standardized template with all available fields in the correct order. Then, when we convert low to high-level, we remove the fields that don't apply. I know you have a Wookieepedia:WookieeProject Vehicles, should we create a Wookieepedia:WookieeProject Starfighters (and others, of course) for this? RMF 01:35, 7 February 2006 (UTC)
