Date categorization

I noticed you've been doing a lot of date articles, and I have a suggestion: how about, when doing individual dates, we categorize them by number, like May 19 would be [[Category:Dates|0519]]. As it is now, they're alphabetical. - Lord Hydronium 22:13, 6 March 2006 (UTC)

  • I was thinking of doing that. If you look at Wikipedia's, their's is still in alphabetical. Sad isn't it? -- Riffsyphon1024 22:14, 6 March 2006 (UTC)
    • However now that I did that, it places the article under 0 or 1. Is that any better to look at? -- Riffsyphon1024 22:16, 6 March 2006 (UTC)
      • Well, it's not as pretty, but it's probably more useful. Just one digit would look nicer, so all Mays would be under "5", but it wouldn't work for October-December. - Lord Hydronium 22:19, 6 March 2006 (UTC)
      • Although, if we wanted to get more complicated, we could use 1-9 and do something like make October "A", November "B", and December "C", so every date would be in order and sorted by month. It might be confusing, though. - Lord Hydronium 22:22, 6 March 2006 (UTC)
        • How about a list? See here List of Dates--Erl 22:35, 28 March 2006 (UTC)
          • Problem solved Erl. See the category. -- Riffsyphon1024 22:41, 28 March 2006 (UTC)
            • Ah good. I'll get rid of the List of Dates then, and check the category to make sure its all back to normal. Thanks again!--Erl 22:52, 28 March 2006 (UTC)

Improvement Drive

Hi Riffsyphon, Thanks for your note. The improvement drive refers to the List of Companies and Corporations, which suffers from an excess of red links. My adding stub pages for companies without pages (the new pages to which you refer) is meant to address this particular problem. I could leave the comment line blank when I add a new page, or simply say "new page" if that would prevent confusion, but barring this it seems clear enough otherwise. Ulic 04:58, 9 March 2006 (UTC)

Bored article thing

Whoops, sorry about that. I went to put up the deletion notice and you had already deleted it. My fault! --Danik Kreldin 22:14, 13 March 2006 (UTC)

Banning user 67.139.52.226

I believe you banned 67.139.52.226. He is a friend of mine. He called me before, and said when he went to edit, it said he was blocked by riffsyphon1024. The vandalism that he made were only minor pranks played on me by him, he just removed "want" in the Star Wars dreams section of the community portal jokingly because when i first wrote the section, It said, "I more" (I forgot to put "want".) I believe he was booted because of the User:Bly1993/Amazing page. It was just a joke I played on him, and I was gonna have the page and smile image deleted. He didn't start that. It wasn't supposed to be vandalism. Could you bring him back? Lt. 1993 22:58, 13 March 2006 (UTC)

Questions

  • Hey, Riff can you please answer some of my questions over at the ComPortal? Thanks --Razzy1319 20:16, 16 March 2006 (UTC)

Link to us!

Okay, I was kinda bored so I made some stuff—some "link to us" images. I'm not a graphic artist, so don't expect brilliance, but I wanted to know what you think (and didn't know where to put 'em anyway, I'm tired).

Shadowtrooper talk 03:45, 19 March 2006 (UTC)

  • Good job Shadowtrooper. I personally like 3 and 5, large enough that you can see what it links to. -- Riffsyphon1024 21:21, 20 March 2006 (UTC)
    • Okay, so now the only question is...where should I put these? Shadowtrooper talk 15:18, 21 March 2006 (UTC)

I've made a crummy little mock up on my temp page, if you would, please lemme know what "administrative touches" it needs so it will fit with everything else around here. Shadowtrooper talk 15:38, 22 March 2006 (UTC)

  • Wouldn't say crummy but after cafeful consideration, I like the Wookiee attack logo the best, showing the mass of Wookiee(pedians) that have been created. :) Not sure what other administrative touches it might need, though I'm not sure if the text is needed or not. -- Riffsyphon1024 19:00, 22 March 2006 (UTC)

The Legacy Era

It Says and I quote, "All New Sith! All New Empire! All New Skywalker!". We already have Legacy Era Sith and Cade Skywalker, What about the Empire?? - SGCommand

  • I wouldn't know how they're going to present this. Probably something similar to the Old Sith Empire. -- Riffsyphon1024 22:07, 21 March 2006 (UTC)

Dates

Yeah, you're right. As an admin, could you revert all of my date changes (they were all in a row, it should be a piece of cake), and I'll make a List of Dates, so that it can be ordered effortlessly.--Erl 22:34, 28 March 2006 (UTC)

  • I have a better idea. If you look on my user page, you will find a already assembled table from Wikipedia with all the dates on there. I could place this on the category page at the top. -- Riffsyphon1024 22:37, 28 March 2006 (UTC)
    • That would work. Oy, I keep coming across like an idiot. Thanks very much. So is there anything I should do?--Erl 22:45, 28 March 2006 (UTC)
      • Thanks for trying but it didn't work out. I'll revert the rest of these dates. Btw, you don't have to be an admin to rollback articles. ;) -- Riffsyphon1024 22:47, 28 March 2006 (UTC)
        • But if not an admin you can get repetitive motion injury doing so. I didn't want to do them manually (laziness I guess), and since I was talking to you, I took the path of least resistance . . . ;)--Erl 00:33, 29 March 2006 (UTC)
          • And it is done, I guess it worked. :P -- Riffsyphon1024 15:02, 29 March 2006 (UTC)

Can you help me out?

Hey. I was wondering if there was any way to merge my un-signed-in contribs list (at IP address 66.108.42.146--I checked, I'm the only one contributing from that address) to the contribs list of my username, for nerd points reasons. Thanks!--Erl 03:45, 30 March 2006 (UTC)

Español

Don't sweat it, I just didn't want to piss them off or anything. Being "overexcited and overcritical simultaneously" as you put it is something we're all guilty of now and again. Later! Shadowtrooper talk 23:17, 4 April 2006 (UTC)

Cropping

I just found the category, and because I have a 1337 scr33nc@p *slaps self* (Thats better). Anyway, I have a screencap widget, so I could do that easily. Should I replace the old images when I finish or put them somewhere else so that they can be compared?--The Erl of the Riffsyphon1024/Archive7 talk What I do 03:11, 19 April 2006 (UTC)

  • I believe it is better to upload a new pic versus replacing the old. The old can then be deleted. -- Riffsyphon1024 11:03, 19 April 2006 (UTC)

Sig

Yeah. I just used the {{NAMESPACE}} function, and its not as flexible as I'd like. Is it problematic in some way (i.e. insulting, or a tech problem), or are you just pointing that out.--The Erl of the Riffsyphon1024/Archive7 talk What I do 19:08, 19 April 2006 (UTC)</nowiki>

  • Just pointing it out. -- Riffsyphon1024 11:08, 19 April 2006 (UTC)
    • Yeah. At first I used {{PAGENAME}}, but that just wound up being "The Erl of the Talk" a thousand times over--The Erl of the Riffsyphon1024/Archive7 talk What I do 22:14, 19 April 2006 (UTC)
      • Since you like to hang around the Forums so much, you could simply change the text in your preferences for your sig to reflect that, though you'd always be Erl of the Forums, it would make sense. -- Riffsyphon1024 14:27, 19 April 2006 (UTC)
        • I guess. It's just that (if you go back in my contribs you can see) I meant to have it correspond to the page all along. At first I did it manually, but with the code, I don't have to. I just get a kick out of it. Does it bug you?--The Erl of the Riffsyphon1024/Archive7 talk What I do 02:50, 1 May 2006 (UTC)
          • Actually it sorta does, but if noone else is complaining... -- Riffsyphon1024 02:52, 1 May 2006 (UTC)

Open up "Bulwark" article?

Hi, I asked about this last month on its talk-page, but I forgot about it later. I have found the quote by Dan Wallace where he mentions the bigger Rebellion Bulwark-class battlecruisers as being Mk.III or IVs, and this is why he downgraded the Mk.I to a CW-era size. I'd like to put this in the article as Bts-info, but it's been locked since November. :) VT-16 14:34, 20 April 2006 (UTC)

  • May I ask who locked it? -- Riffsyphon1024 17:31, 21 April 2006 (UTC)
    • I have no idea, it happened many months ago after repeated attempts to put in an unsubstantiated length for the Rebellion model. VT-16 13:24, 22 April 2006 (UTC)

Question&stuff

Thanks for fixing links on my page.I admit i have no idea what did you actally do,but it didn't work before ,so thanks. Also, can you tell me how to scale down images?

Oh,and could you add me to the "Young users list".I'm 13.Ksssstr 10:32, 30 May 2006 (UTC)

  • In order to create subpages on Wookieepedia, one is to place a slash after the name of their user page in your case, [[User:Ksssstr]] with [[User:Ksssstr/Whatever]]. You can also scale down images by adding the field in pixels as so: [[:File:Luke.jpg|300px|thumb]] where 300px is 300 pixels, a standard size for images. As for adding you to the list, you're already on there. -- Riffsyphon1024 05:26, 2 June 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for the help.Looks like i didn't notice my username on the list :) Ksssstr 09:42, 3 June 2006 (UTC)

I have been contributing as much knowledge as I have been learning, I've been reading the NJO, and as I've correcting problems with low information and spelling errors.

  • Well maybe u can help me with my problem, it told me that my page was getting too big to edit, and told me to turn some of it into sub-pages. So I thought if I made those, that it wouldn't bother anyone. If this has somehow messed up the way things work I apologize, but maybe you can help me. Please, if u start deleting things, please tell me and give me time to save my work, I put quite a bit of time to it. Sato Stars 07:23, 11 June 2006 (UTC)

I really wasn't ignoring you the last few times you IM'ed me, I just keep forgetting to set my away status. I've been having to go to sleep at an unreasonably reasonable hour lately. And the IT guys here at work block every web-chat gateway they find, so I'm pretty much unreachable for 75% of my waking hours during the week. Could you help a new user?

I just started with Wookieepedia and I already managed to mess up my user page. I was playing with tables and all of a sudden the formatting broke down and now I can see unnesessary HTML tags on my page. Could you please rvrt my user page to an older, neat version? Thanks. Because, as I understand, only admins can revert changes? Tellur 17:01, 7 July 2006 (UTC)

  • Actually any user with a screenname can revert a page, it's just the admins that have an easy Rollback button to use. I'll do it quickly but here's how you can do it. Go to the history tab of your page and compare the last two edits made to your user page, then edit the history of the page that does not have the formatting problem, and save that page, even though it warns you the version is out of date. After hitting the save button, you should be fixed. -- Riffsyphon1024 04:34, 8 July 2006 (UTC)
    • And in all fairness after checking, everything looks fine to me. -- Riffsyphon1024 04:35, 8 July 2006 (UTC)
    • I think I must have had a problem with my web browser, because I soon found out that more Wookieepedia pages look this way (meaning: I could see the TR and TD tags from tables popping up everywhere). I'm using Opera. Now everything's ok - thank you. Tellur 09:11, 8 July 2006 (UTC)
      • Ah, that was a problem on all templates on all pages, usually from the wikia software, so nothing wrong with your page. -- Riffsyphon1024 09:12, 8 July 2006 (UTC)

Kumumgah

Can you remind me how it is implied that the Kumumgah were the original humans? Could you expand the BtS section of that article? thanks MoffRebus 12:32, 9 July 2006 (UTC)

  • Oh I didn't add that. It was already there in the article, only I wookified it into a BTS section. Check the history on that again. -- Riffsyphon1024 04:47, 10 July 2006 (UTC)

Ban user 69.29.85.71

Please ban this guy, he's screwing up some pages around here. User:RushinSundaws 1:03 11, July 2006

Hello

From your user page.

Users who insist on being Darths (i.e. Darth, Aeonz, Anarcus, Antilles, Awesome, Benobi, Cow, Chicken ... Shatner (though may not be one of ours, was interesting), Steves, Tader, Teal, Tuna, Tyler, Vader2.0, Vengen, Zjyslav Moose, and of course Vader) Will somebody get these guys a life?

While I take pride in being on the top of your list I do have some kinda life. I simply was playing KOTOR II The sith lords and was named Aeonz I chose the dark side and became Darth Aeonz it was at this time I stumbled upon Wookieepedia and created a account. I am sorry I did not pick a more creative name. All joking aside I find it even more funny that with all the pages on this site I found one that not only had my name but was making un of me. You mention on your page that new members can get banned when they are new just because they violate a rule of are fool. If you could please help me know what the main Do's and Dont's are I would aprecite that Thanks... Darth Aeonz 07:57, 13 July 2006 (UTC)

  • Crap, you caught me. Well it is meant to be taken lightheartedly, when one can also notice that I use another name myself of Darth Dorkus. It only shows that the title "Darth" can tend to be overused as many a user go ahead and make yet another version. But it is not directed at you or any one person. As for the first sentence, I noted that back when certain users were really vandalizing us and yet did not understand that vandalism would get them banned, rather than just violating a minor rule. -- Riffsyphon1024 09:01, 13 July 2006 (UTC)

Adminship?

Hey Riffs. I appreciate the adminship, but shouldn't my RfA have failed due to the 'admin votes must be unanimous' section? RMF 16:13, 31 July 2006 (UTC)

  • Well even as Sparqman voiced his displeasure for more admins, it wasn't enough to tilt the scales, since there were 10 votes supporting your adminship. However, Sparq is trying to make us aware of the limits that he feels we need, and I follow his idea, but we couldn't stop a vote in progress. You are a new admin. Enjoy. -- Riffsyphon1024 16:39, 31 July 2006 (UTC)
