Need someone to open article

Hi, I and others need to have the Utapau article reopened. It was locked over a month ago when someone changed parts of the text to include fanon and I need to post a quote from an interview in the bts section clearing up the relevant section. Tried to ask Jaymach, who locked it, but he hasn't responded. Thanks in advance. :) VT-16 00:40, 2 March 2007 (UTC)

  • It has been done. -- Riffsyphon1024 05:14, 2 March 2007 (UTC)
    • Thank you. I've posted the clarification and necessary quote in the bts section. If anyone doubts its canonicity, they can contact either Curtis Saxton or Lucy Wilson. VT-16 12:14, 2 March 2007 (UTC)

yo why did you take that alternate ending thing off the page of the rakata. it wasn't on the page and it is critical.

What's this...

Hey Riff! What's this about the "Star Wars Galactic Atlas"? Has someone official hinted about it or something? I haven't heard anything and was just curious... Thanks. --Azizlight 06:37, 6 March 2007 (UTC)

WookieeProject Galaxy Maps

I thought you might be interested in checking this out: Wookieepedia:WookieeProject Galaxy Maps ~ Jaywin

  • Yes, I thought of the idea of a WookieeProject from the Senate Hall discussion. When I brought up the idea, some people sounded like it might be a good idea. So I just quickly made a rough outline of what it might look like. If people are interested, and they think it might be a useful way to enhance the map aspects of Wookieepedia, then people can develop a WookieProject around the issue. If not, then the page can simply be deleted. Like I said...just an idea! Have a good one, and thanks for your response. : ) ~ Jaywin

Seeking Interview with Wookieepedia creators.

Hi Riffsyphon. This is copied from my talk page. Christine asked me in our email correspondence to forward this to you and Chad, as you two are the "creators." —Xwing328(Talk) 02:47, 20 March 2007 (UTC)

Hello, My name is Christine, I am a researcher and webmaster for I-SCI-FI, www.i-sci-fi.com We are a online talk show, that covers all areas of science fiction and fantasy. We would like to interview the creators of Wookieepedia. The interview can be done live on Thursdays, in the evening or can be recorded at your convience. Our show is in podcast format, if you are interested in listening to past shows: http://www.iscifi.tv/podcast I would recommend episode 297 - Charles Ross - the one man Star Wars show. Please contact me at chris@iscifi.tv if you are interested or know of someone else that would be.

  • So I assume from one of the podcasts that I can call in to the studio number where the speaker is to interview me? As for being available on Thursdays, that will be hard to pull off seeing how I will be on campus from 9 am to 9 pm or later CDT for classes, but its possible I could use another landline there, and then again we could always do this on a different day. -- Riffsyphon1024 06:32, 20 March 2007 (UTC)
    • Yeah, I'd guess you just call in, but you'd probably have to talk to her about those types of details if you do it. —Xwing328(Talk) 16:51, 24 March 2007 (UTC)

bad person

Hi, I saw on the fourm page that User:Redemption used a curse word. I asked him nicely to please do not say curse words on relegious pages. I told him that he could post them anywhere else, but not on a relegious page. That is un called for. He then cussed me out. see User talk:Redemption. I consider that a personal attack and would like you to bring justice to it. Maybe punishing him? Thats just an idea. Thank you so much, and may the force be with you! Quinlanfan 23:28, 20 March 2007 (UTC)

  • What "religious page"? --ATATatarismall.png 23:32, 20 March 2007 (UTC)

It was not a relegious page, it was a section on a forum about relegion. See: Forum:CT:Possible amendments to user page policy and WP:NOT Thanks, Quinlanfan 23:42, 20 March 2007 (UTC)

  • He won't get punished for that. First of all, that's almost 2 months ago. Second, there is no rule against using curse words on pages about religion. --ATATatarismall.png 23:46, 20 March 2007 (UTC)

  • Never really thought about the Rakata, but it's an interesting idea. I still theorize there was an Empire pre-Rakata that founded the name of Tatooine and the other planets, but of course its just fanon. :) -- Riffsyphon1024 20:11, 28 March 2007 (UTC)
    • I think the Rakata would make sense, since I seem to recall that many of the worlds were primitive prior to their arrival. On the other hand, since it's implied that the sandpeople were the ancestors of all humans, perhaps Tatooine was the first planet named this way and then as they populated other planets, the sandpeople/humans renamed other worlds after it. Or something. I have too much time on my hands. Sarendipity Talk File:Atrissig.jpg 04:13, 29 March 2007 (UTC)

What I ment was, what was Aayla and Quinlan undercover mission during episode 1? In the graphic novel, Twilight it talks about the tatooine mission. I think that was part of the same mission that they got their memory wiped. I want to know what that mission is. Do you know the answer? does anyone else? thanks, Quin

C4

Hey Riffsyphon1024, Ozzel and I decided to get this ball rolling, since we really don't have too much time to plan. Here is a log of the meeting the two of us had - C4_meeting_with_Ozzel.pdf. I know we don't have the final word, we just wanted to get going like I said.

Proposal

  • Most of the following assumes we receive $1,000 from Wikia for sponsorship:
  1. A sign for the table
    • This would include a hi-resolution version of the Wookieepedia logo, The Completely Unofficial Star Wars Encyclopedia, Wikia, and any other sponsors that we might (and should) obtain.
  2. A computer with internet hookup and all necessary power cords, etc.
    • This would be our major expense. Hopefully we could get one donated solely for the purpose of allowing attendees to browse our site. I know most of us do not want to donate our personal computers for this use. This would also most likely be used during the trivia contests detailed below.
  3. Pamphlets
    • A tri-fold 8 1/2" x 11" professionally-printed pamphlet with an "About Us", one of our best (hopefully flawless) articles, any interesting trivia, a tribute to Wikia, and anything else we feel like including for recruitment purposes, etc. Ozzel is going to try to start a design for this.
  4. Trivia contest
    • I'm going to write up some additional proposals for these most likely, but the basic idea was to either 1) have contestants try to stump Wookieepedians, 2) have a "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire"-like setup where a contestant tests their knowledge against pre-made questions of ours, or 3) a combination of the two, where the best of people who participate the first days in option 1 of this proposal are selected and contacted to come back for the final event of option 2. Winners of whichever we do would most likely receive a t-shirt.
  5. T-shirts
    • We need to finalize a design and contact Lucasfilm, like we already talked about. The shirt should probably include the Wikia logo on the back or sleeve, along with any other sponsors we may receive. I think our best bet would be to only give these out to workers, winners of the trivia contests, and of course any celebrities who might wander by :). We could sell the others at cost to any other people, but we definitely don't want to make a profit on this unless we get the OK from Mary Franklin.
  6. Sound system
    • I'm not so sure on this point. We could loop through our few spoken articles and Thefourdotelipsis' Wookiee-Casts.
  7. Other concerns: I presume the physical table is provided, along with chairs? Internet connection? Electrical connections? Sign-up list?

Hope you enjoyed reading all that :P Please let me know what you think/decide. —Xwing328(Talk) 04:56, 2 April 2007 (UTC)

  • Good that you guys hit on all of these major points. My commentary below:
  1. Someone with hi-res photo imaging and printing can do this, or if was performed professionally. What size of sign are we talking? Posterboard? Banner?
  2. Computer and power hookups. I don't have specifics for that at the moment, but check the Gencon page and I believe one of the PDFs discusses resources for the tables. Preferably a laptop for space saving and faster deconstruction speed?
  3. About Us pamphlet sounds good.
  4. Trivia contest. If like Who Wants to Be a Wookieepedian?, questioning alone would be purely in their knowledge, and would lifelines allow searching for the subject within 30 seconds?
  5. We still have Wookieepedia:Design a shirt where any ideas are good. This is important if we want representation. Once again, Mary Franklin must be alerted that they will be given away and whether or not making small profit is to be avoided at all costs, which I'm assuming.
  6. Wouldn't the sound system be hooked up the computer?
  7. We'll make a timesheet for those sitting in as soon as we get a look at the detailed event schedule. -- Riffsyphon1024 06:03, 2 April 2007 (UTC)
  • More stuff: http://www.gencon.com/2007/swciv/events/fanevents.aspx. Our table is free. 10'x10' area with two chairs/table. Additional equipment such as internet/electrical might cost money. Apparently graphics and stuff were supposed to be submitted for approval with our packet, so we might have to send those to Mary F. as well. Also, we are not allowed to sell anything.
  1. The sign I was thinking should be a professionally printed banner, if affordable, along with the pamphlets and shirts.
  2. Trivia contest - that's what I was thinking, with lifelines, etc.
  3. Yes, the sound could go through the computer. I guess it doesn't have to be separate :P —Xwing328(Talk) 14:50, 2 April 2007 (UTC)
  • Disregarding any "concerns", I'd say the design is still good to use. We do need to get this rolling, don't we? Given time, I might be able to clean it up some more, but time's one thing that is definitely lacking right now, with finals and all. —Xwing328(Talk) 16:16, 17 April 2007 (UTC)

  • Here's a new one! It has a bit more "creativity" if you ask me. Also, I inverted Chewie to go for a slightly different look. —Xwing328(Talk) 16:42, 17 April 2007 (UTC)
    • Nice. I see you implimented the design of a TIE Bomber in the text. Would this concept be completely safe to wear during the event? -- Riffsyphon1024 05:01, 18 April 2007 (UTC)
      • The only possible concern would be the Chewbacca image. I don't know how picky LFL would be about shirts that we are not selling, but I'd imagine it would be OK. If I don't hear from you soon, I could email Mary Franklin and ask her about it. You might be in a slightly better position to do that though. —Xwing328(Talk) 15:33, 19 April 2007 (UTC)
        • Correction: Emailed her...awaiting reply. —Xwing328(Talk) 19:01, 19 April 2007 (UTC)

Very cool design.

Please add this legal line in small type – maybe up Chewie’s shoulder, or somewhere else where it’s clear but inconspicuous.

  • You see. You can get better response from her than I can. I would appreciate if you remain our PR guy since I'm not always available as much.

So now the question is, how many are you going to make, how much each, and how to distribute them., of course if we're all meeting up at C4, distributing them there makes sense. -- Riffsyphon1024 04:28, 20 April 2007 (UTC)

  • Received final approval this morning. I'll try talking to sannse today to get the money situation moving again. The more we buy, the cheaper per item usually. The first number that popped into my head was 50, which should give us plenty for C4 workers and trivia contests, along with extras to use for future stuff (WotM winner each month?). And yeah, I think distributing at C4 would be easiest, otherwise we'd be mailing all over the world. Now another question: Who has the best/cheapest access to good t-shirt making people? I can get it done, but does anybody else have better resources? —Xwing328(Talk) 13:28, 20 April 2007 (UTC)
    • Well I did come across zazzle.com earlier and tested out some ideas, not to mention they already have a page of Star Wars predesigned shirts with some slight editability. You could upload the image there and have them print them, then send them to you, then you have to figure out a way to transport 50 shirts. Yeez. Other than that, I don't have another online source for you. I have used a local screen printer here though, but I don't think I can transport that many if airline travel is going to be complicated already. -- Riffsyphon1024 19:20, 20 April 2007 (UTC)
      • I have a local screen printer too, but I have no idea what costs will be. I'm estimating between $10-$15 per shirt, which might be cheaper than the actual cost. And the proposal I submitted to sannse only allows for about 25 at that price. Btw, if need be, we could set up "Donations" to support some minor costs. I just set up a Paypal account yesterday, and am working on getting that verified. —Xwing328(Talk) 16:08, 21 April 2007 (UTC)
        • It all depends on complexity and number ordered that drives the price. For a white shirt with mostly brown shouldn't be too much, and like my orders for my club, about 25 should make them from $9 to $12 each, though you may live in an area with overall higher costs. What would be our minor costs? -- Riffsyphon1024 04:33, 22 April 2007 (UTC)
          • Minor, as in not the shirts, pamphlets, or banner? Internet and electrical connections...we'll have to contact the GenCon people about those. That's all I know of. It would be great if we found a company that could donate a computer/projector... —Xwing328(Talk) 19:44, 22 April 2007 (UTC)
            • I think someone other than I will bring a laptop, but if you're talking about an additional desktop computer for user access, that might be hard to come by, as well as the projector. -- Riffsyphon1024 03:46, 23 April 2007 (UTC)
              • Yeah, I was thinking for user access. Bob Vitas said he's going to talk to someone tonight about a projector, so we'll see. Also, see this banner I put together today. Lastly, the pamphlet is coming together, and if you didn't hear, "Stump the Wookiee" got approved for the Fan Stage. —Xwing328(Talk) 21:00, 23 April 2007 (UTC)
                • The banner looks great. Good news on the Fan Stage. Does that mean that we'll be front of thousands of people? -- Riffsyphon1024 21:20, 23 April 2007 (UTC)
                  • Thx! I have no idea. Is the fan stage normally like that? If so, we better make it spectacular :) —Xwing328(Talk) 22:21, 23 April 2007 (UTC)
                    • All I know about stages is that someone is on it and lots of people are watching it. We may want to look our geeky best if its presented to the masses as an official fan event. -- Riffsyphon1024 04:56, 24 April 2007 (UTC)

Complaint against an administrator

Hi. This is Jaywin. I wanted to make a brief complaint against an administrator, Darth Culator. I was doing a little bot work (which apparently Culator has a problem with, judging by his comment on my talk page), and he banned me without warning.

More specifically, I was going down the list in the Special:Wanted|Wanted Pages (which I occasionally do) to try and get rid of some redlinks. Today, I was getting rid of some redlinks that mostly involved IP user pages with a template called "user" (which now Culator has gotten rid of as well). I was also putting welcome templates on the talk pages where they were needed. (Apparently I was using the wrong template on the discussion page. Green Tentacle left a message on my talk page, pointing out my error...which was more of a courtesy than Culator provided. I immediately thanked GT for pointing this out to me.) I began getting rid of some redlinks on Special:Userlist, and (without paying attention, I confess), put the user template on a banned user's page. Apparently this is when I got banned.

I went on the IRC channel to try and straighten this out. Darth Culator was there and basically accused me of being irrational and a vandal. When I suggested that he could have assumed good faith and left a message on my talk page, he responded that he hated it when people mentioned "good faith" (or something to that effect) and then proceeded to kick me off of the IRC.

He then "graciously" unblocked me since he "got my attention" [1]...of course, he could have got my attention by leaving a message on my talk page, but I guess that would be too much to ask from an administrator who doesn't seem to have much use for the good faith policy.

Personally, I think that Darth Culator's behavior was quite rude and belligerent, and I would expect more from an administrator. Also, judging from his talk page, I'm not the only one who has a problem with the way he conducts business on Wookieepedia.

This wasn't quite as brief as I hoped. But thank you for taking the time to read this, and please feel free to leave a response on my talk page if you'd like. Have a good one. Jaywin 02:03, 28 May 2007 (UTC)

  • Aw, boo frickety hoo. Next time I won't be so nice. -- Darth Culator (Talk) 03:29, 28 May 2007 (UTC)
    • It's precisely because of that attitude why you probably shouldn't even be an administrator. Jaywin 11:34, 28 May 2007 (UTC)
  • Does anyone have the IRC log of that event? I think that would be relevant evidence. Atarumaster88 19:19, 29 May 2007 (UTC)
    • If this issue warrents further looking into, then it should be proposed at our page for administrator punishment and or reprimand. -- Riffsyphon1024 04:24, 31 May 2007 (UTC)
