Image and article removal
I just removed this page and this image - noting some more info about why here: FANDOM Support received a complaint and request to have them removed. The image was unused and the article contents unverified - both were already tagged for removal. Feel free to message me here (or via Special:Contact) if you have concerns! -- Kirkburn (talk) 17:56, February 23, 2018 (UTC)
- It's not so much the fact that the page itself was removed—I just don't appreciate that Wikia staff are acting on matters that can be handled by the local administrators just fine. Regardless of any deletion tags, we would prefer it if Wikia staff didn't act unilaterally. I assure you the local administrators are more than happy to comply with any deletion request made by staff. 1358 (Talk) 18:04, February 23, 2018 (UTC)
- I just want to second what ecks is saying. If a regular user tags an article for deletion, it's ultimately up to our administration to decide whether it's prudent to carry through on the deletion request for that content matter. A pending deletion may be contested, for example, and would best be decided by community vote in the Trash compactor. Except in obvious cases of extreme vandalism or copyright violation, which this was not, that's not something a Staff member should be interjecting on. The only reason this article was tagged for deletion is because we don't consider Internet Movie Database a reliable independent source of information. But this article is still perfectly fair game for re-creation in the event someone does find a valid independent source for its information. So please keep that in mind in the potential event it does get re-created. Thank you. Toprawa and Ralltiir (talk) 18:52, February 23, 2018 (UTC)
- I understand the concerns - but we do have to respect the privacy of the person making the request, so we can't always share all the details. Certainly, if those items had not already been tagged for deletion I would likely have brought it up with an admin first.
- Regardless, I'll endeavour to contact you first next time, even if they're tagged for deletion - apologies for stepping on your toes! -- Kirkburn (talk) 19:02, February 23, 2018 (UTC)
- I just want to add, also, that the article did, in fact, have a valid independent source of information before it was (erroneously) tagged for deletion, which further emphasizes the need for Staff to be mindful of what they're doing. Thank you. Toprawa and Ralltiir (talk) 19:07, February 23, 2018 (UTC)
- The deletion notice suggested it did not have valid sources, though I see that was not added by an admin.
- Since we had a specific request for removal, and out of respect for that person's privacy, could it perhaps be removed unless it is verified? (I should note we have been informed that removal of the apparently incorrect info on IMDB has already been requested.)
- In any case, out of curiosity - how would you normally verify this info? -- Kirkburn (talk) 19:15, February 23, 2018 (UTC)
- I see that you've added new sources - I will follow up with the original requester. Kirkburn (talk) 19:19, February 23, 2018 (UTC)
- [Edit conflict]: Yes, I do realize the deletion notice suggested it did not have valid sources, but that notice was added in error, since the user who added it apparently did not realize that the article did, in fact, have a valid source of information. And that's sort of the whole point here -- when honoring a deletion request, our local administrators need to take a moment to look at the article to verify that it truly should be deleted. You obviously didn't do that, nor could you, since you admit you don't know our rules for article verification, which underscores the need for Staff to stay out of local affairs. At any rate, I've recreated the article with proper verification, so all should be good now. Thank you. Toprawa and Ralltiir (talk) 19:23, February 23, 2018 (UTC)
- Apologies again for the mess - and I'll let you know if we have an update about this disputed info. -- Kirkburn (talk) 19:26, February 23, 2018 (UTC)

Barry Lowin
Hi, just wanted to let you know that IMDB cannot be used as a reliable source to cite information about actors and the like. As such, I have replaced the citation on Lowin's page with another source, and formatted the reference accordingly. UberSoldat93 (talk) 18:27, 24 September 2021 (UTC)
