Luke Skywalker
Hi Gulliver1swift. While your edit to Luke Skywalker is appreciated, I wanted to let you know about a couple issues with it that resulted in its reversion. First, your edit referenced the Episode VII novelization in an out-of-universe way–according to our Manual of Style, outside of the "Behind the scenes" section, articles that aren't on people or things from the real world are to be written solely in an in-universe perspective. Also, your edit introduced some original research on R2-D2's low power state, which is something we avoid, as we only include information that is directly attributable to a published, reliable source. - Thanks for the feedback. I'm going to try and revise. I want to understand what you mean by original research. You are referring to which part of my edit: the sentence "this would either suggest" or the sentence ""R2D2 awoke from his low power"? I suspect you refer to the former (more interpretive) and not the latter (more observational). Does the information the original states about R2D2 originate from exposition in the novelization or is it speculation from the original wiki writer?Gulliver1swift (talk)

As he had downloaded most of the information possessed by the Empire during his time on the Death Star, R2-D2, Skywalker's faithful astromech, was also able to recover the contents of the map, but only by going into low power mode, which allowed him to sort through the wealth of information present in the Empire's archives.<ref name="TFA novel" />
MY EDIT
R2-D2 had a similar map in his own archive--with the same missing fraction. The Star Wars VII novelization suggests R2-D2 had downloaded most of the information possessed by the Empire during his time on the Death Star and was also able to recover the contents of the map <ref name="TFA novel" />. This would either suggest that Lor San Tekka stole the missing fraction before R2-D2 downloaded it or Lor San Tekka cooperated with Luke to preserve the incomplete map in R2-D2. Regardless, R2-D2 awoke from his low power mode after the First Order failed in its last attempt to stop the Resistance from obtaining the missing fragment. R2-D2 projected the holographic map into the air and BB-8 projected the missing piece into the hole in R2-D2's map.
- You're basically right on. One of our definitions for "original research" is "an analysis or synthesis of published facts, opinions, or arguments without attributing that analysis or synthesis to a reliable source who has published the material in relation to the topic of the article." That would refer to this sentence: "This would either suggest that Lor San Tekka stole the missing fraction before R2-D2 downloaded it or Lor San Tekka cooperated with Luke to preserve the incomplete map in R2-D2." If neither of those scenarios are actually brought forward in a published source, and it's just an interpretation or a theory, then that would fall under the boundaries of original research.
