Welcome!
Welcome, BalkansEwok!Hello and welcome to Wookieepedia. I hope you like the place and choose to join our work. Here are a few good links for newcomers:
Wookieepedia aspires to be a reliable source for all Star Wars fans to read and draw information from, and as such, fan-created continuity and fan fiction are not allowed within our articles. All in-universe material must be attributable to a reliable, published source. Do not remove talk page and forum comments, including your own, as they are part of the public record. Remember that you should always sign your comments on talk and vote pages using four tildes, like this: ~~~~. For an optimal viewing experience, Wookieepedia recommends using the Monobook skin. For help changing your skin preference, see Help:Skin. I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wookieepedian! Hello!
Just saying hi because you had mentioned on Cade's talk page that nobody was talking to you. As a rule, though, people often won't unless they have something of importance to communicate. If you're looking for communication, you might want to try getting involved in some of the forums. Places like the Senate Hall are a good place to start. — Hi there. Basically, it was not lack of colloquial communication I was complaining about. It was people editing things and when I would ask for guidelines not otherwise provided, I would never receive a response. As an administrator of a community (albeit not of this size), I found that to be quite...strange. Hope it makes more sense now. --BalkansEwok (talk) 14:47, September 29, 2014 (UTC)
- Hi. It looks like you didn't source and license the image when you uploaded it, so there are no unwritten rules at play here. You can find this information at Wookieepedia:Images. As that page explains, all images need to be properly attributed using the {{Information}} template, which is stated in the "Formatting" section.
- Here's how to fill out the {{Information}} template. In the "Source" field, you would write where you found the image, such as the name of the officially licensed Star Wars work, the website you found it on, or wherever it may have come from. In the "Licensing" field, you would choose the appropriate licensing template to add. Other required fiends, when such information is available, are "Description" (where you say what the image is) and any relevant categories.
- There are two ways you can add the {{Information}} template:
- If you are uploading images using the in-editor upload tool, then you need to immediately source and license the image with the {{Information}} template after the image is uploaded. To do that, go to Special:RecentChanges, where you'll see your file in the latest revisions. Click on the file. Once you are on the file description page, click "Edit" at the top and then add the completed {{Information}} template into the page. Click Publish, and your information will be saved.
- If you are using Special:Upload, you'll see that the template has already been placed into the Summary box for you. That means you just need to fill out the information there (before uploading), and it will be applied at the same time you upload the image. This is the option that Wookieepedia's administrators recommend, as this is the one that they prefer. If you use the in-editor upload tool, you may not be given time to source and license your image before it's deleted, so Special:Upload is your best bet to ensure that your image is accepted.
- I hope that's somewhat helpful for you. It's a very broad overview so, if you still have any questions, feel free to let me know. Thanks! - Brandon Rhea(talk) 15:01, September 29, 2014 (UTC)
Goopa!
It's always cool to run across a fellow Ewoks fan! :) Adamwankenobi (talk) 04:45, October 9, 2014 (UTC)
- Goopa to you, too! I've noticed you around and I have seen that we're not many, but that we're all very, very dedicated! --BalkansEwok (talk) 04:51, October 9, 2014 (UTC)
Thanks!
Hey BalkansEwok, I wanted to take a moment to thank you for the work you've been doing around here. It's always nice to see (relatively) fresh faces on the wiki, especially ones who are taking the time to improve areas like Ewoks that are usually forgotten or ignored by most users. If you need anything, don't hesitate to ask. Thanks! IFYLOFD (Enter the Floydome) 18:23, October 15, 2014 (UTC)
- Thank you. :) That's very kind of you. In general, the only thing I have A LOT of doubts about are the images - I would like to use some screencaps from the cartoon series and possibly parts of comic pages, but since I once uploaded a picture of a character model cel and it got deleted, I totally don't get how the attribution works here. I would appreciate help with that. --BalkansEwok (talk) 02:54, October 17, 2014 (UTC)
- Attributing images correctly is a lot easier to do you're using the guided upload form. If you click on "Upload file", the link to the guided form will be in the top right corner. If it says "switch to basic upload form" instead, then you're already on the guided form. From there, just link the source you got the image from in the "Source" field, and pick the right licensing template from the drop-down - those are easy too, since you can select "television screenshot" or "comic panel" or whatever fits. Then you can go and add a description, categories, whatever, it's all laid out for you. IFYLOFD (Enter the Floydome) 03:36, October 18, 2014 (UTC)
- That's the part I realised so far, but the passage on what is allowed and what is not is what confuses me. If model cels are the only proofs of characters' names etc, why wouldn't one be allowed to upload them in some form? Sorry if I'm a pain...--BalkansEwok (talk) 05:57, October 18, 2014 (UTC)
- Don't worry, it isn't a problem. Where are you getting these model cels from? IFYLOFD (Enter the Floydome) 21:49, October 18, 2014 (UTC)
- Sorry for the late response - they're genuine Nelvana/Lucasfilm items sold by icollectonline on eBay. There were/are of characters not otherwise named in the series, such as Warok, Leeni, Gwig and Mookiee and those who ended up not appearing in it, such as Batcheela. I wonder what would be necessary in order to finally put names to the faces, as there was no one single picture of Batcheela before, the woklings existed only as plush toys and Warok only as the live-action version from Return Of The Jedi. I also plan to expand articles on all these characters and write as much as it's available from knowing who they were in the cartoon; so how do I go about referring to this? Would the cels need to be uploaded online, to an actual website? BalkansEwok (talk) 23:47, December 20, 2014 (UTC)

Teebo
Hi BalkansEwok, and thanks for your work on the Teebo article! I've been doing some work on Template:Dialogue, and as part of that I've made the "attr" parameter of the template compulsory. Unfortunately, that has stopped the template from displaying in Teebo/Legends#Defeating the Griagh. I'd fix it myself, but I'm not quite sure what a good caption would be there. Could you take a look at it? Thanks, Mr. Stradivarius (talk) 11:29, December 3, 2014 (UTC)
- Hi, I'm sorry for taking so long to respond, been very busy with work. Thanks for your kind words and thanks for letting me know that the template is now broken. What is generally considered to be attribution in this case? What they were doing? When this was? I'm somewhat lost. BalkansEwok (talk) 23:43, December 20, 2014 (UTC)
WP:Ewoks
Thanks for reaching out! I'm hopefully back to editing more regularly, but for now I'd like to focus on cleaning up articles from the Ewoks cartoon. Many of them haven't been edited in years, so some updates are long overdue. - Cwedin(talk) 20:21, 2 April 2021 (UTC)
