Article precedents not really covered by policy that have been set over the years.

Infobox

 • Avoid listing a character's homeworld/birth world in the |birth= field if their birth date is unknown.[1]
 • In the infobox, a character's date and place of birth and date of place of death should be sourced using the same combined reference note respectively.[2]
 • Avoid spelling out "Unidentified" in infobox fields.[3]
 • For canon clone trooper status articles, <ref name="AEYNTK">''[[Star Wars: Absolutely Everything You Need to Know, Updated and Expanded]]'' — Based on corresponding data for [[Cloning|clones]] of [[Jango Fett]]</ref> can be used for |homeworld=, |species=, |donor=, |height=, and |skin= to avoid unnecessary extra referencing.[4]

WookieeProjects

Prose

 • Agent should only be linked if used as a formal title e.g. Agent Kallus. This is because the word "agent" may be informally used by a source to describe an individual acting on behalf of a group.
 • Avoid linking time if the word is used in a context that does not refer to the concept of time itself. This would result in "One time…" not being linked while "After a lot of time had passed…" would be linked.
 • Avoid writing "now," as Star Wars took place "a long time ago."

Images

 • Image captions should connect with the subject and the section it's under and should ideally be more than just e.g. "[Character name]."

Presentation

 • Generally, 2-3 paragraphs per section, but 4 is sometimes acceptable depending on content.
 • Break up paragraphs that are at least 10 lines long to fit Fandom Desktop skin.
 • At least 2 images, if available, in a 3- or 4-paragraph section.
 • For overly long date note templates, pipelink them instead of placing them in the article.[5]
 • If sectioning is introduced, then ensure that every paragraph or group of paragraphs is under a subsection of its/their own (as opposed to some paragraphs being under a subsection and others remaining directly under a higher-up section).

Quotes

 • Substitute double hyphens (--) with an em dash (—).

Behind the scenes

 • For Legends astronomical articles, grid coordinates must be documented here.[6]
 • If subject is from a series, link individual issue/volume as well as the series its part of.[7][8] Not really sensible for reference material like Incredible Cross-Sections, since these are written separately.
 • Publisher of the comic should be mentioned, but not for books. This is because publishers are highly associated with their comics, and is one of the first things people remember when thinking of a comic.
 • Authors generally shouldn't be listed if there are more than two credited, to avoid clutter.
 • If a subject has a real-world equivalent, a brief mention of that should be provided.[10] If applicable, the corresponding Wikipedia article should be included in "External links."[11]
 • On articles on Canon subjects, avoid going in-depth on the differences from their Legends counterparts - ultimately, documenting the Legends information on such a counterpart is what the Legends article itself is for.
 • When the role of Wookieepedia in a subject's development history must be documented, the phrasing "the free-to-edit, unofficial online encyclopedia named Wookieepedia" should be used. This is done to emphasize the potential unreliability of the information on the site as well as to minimize the potential of confusing it for an official source of information. Also, see this for the spirit behind this.[12]

Templates

 • {{1stdesc}} should be placed next to the source that described a subject separately that was only mentioned via the name of another subject before that point. Sources that use the latter name should use {{C}} along with the text "In [subject]'s name."[13]

Appearances

 • Adaptations of television shows are listed after the first episode they adapt, rather than the last, as per the Layout Guide mandating that stories be listed by the earliest point of their main events.[14]

Sourcing

 • Ensure that the context for the subject can be supported by the cited source, especially for things like Star Wars: The Old Republic and Star Wars Galaxies.[15] Example: Subject being a planet is cited to a specific mission, but said mission does not support that context, therefore warranting a reference to another source.
 • Even though novels from Legends provide a timeline at the beginning, BBY/ABY dates should be cited to sources that use the calendar.[16] Of course, this need not apply to novels that use said calendar in the text itself e.g. Darth Plagueis.
 • Cite the latest edition of a book if it contains the same information e.g. Ultimate Star Wars --> Star Wars Encyclopedia: The Comprehensive Guide to the Star Wars Galaxy. This practice is done as the latest edition is theoretically the most accessible one.[17] However, avoid citing a completely unrelated book that still supports the same info.
 • When citing galleries from the episode guides on StarWars.com, specify slide number(s).[18]

Sources section

 • Check StarWars.com for blog posts or promotional material mentioning the subject. These should be written by staff members (Easiest giveaway is if "StarWars.com Team" is credited as the author) or people who have contributed to the franchise officially (e.g. John Morton). Otherwise, investigate the author's profile and social media to confirm. We're not aiming to throw anything and everything under Sources just because. Non-staff member blogs that are relevant enough can go under External links. Relevant policy links: 1 (this can use some updating), 2
 • It seems that Fantasy Flight Games posts that only feature pictures of subjects aren't critically relevant.[19]
 • Cards from Star Wars: Card Trader should only be listed if they contain flavor text or a unique promotional image.
 • StarWars.com episode guides should be listed instead of the galleries within them.[20]
