- «Quadruple star systems like this are quite rare. I imagine navigating into the middle of one takes an extra toll on Third Sight.»
- ―Thrawn, to Caregiver Thalias
A quadruple star system was located in the Unknown Regions and contained a planet. Its four stars made entry into the system difficult for navigators.[1] In 19 BBY,[2] two Paccosh refugee starships that escaped the Nikardun Destiny's blockade of the planet Rapacc rendezvoused in the quadruple star system. One vessel ventured into the borders of the Chiss Ascendancy nation, where it was destroyed by the Nikardun. The other ship's hyperdrive failed, leaving it stranded in the quadruple star system, where all the refugees died of asphyxiation. The Chiss Senior Captain Mitth'raw'nuruodo, core name "Thrawn," found the vessel after he traveled to the quadruple star system aboard the Chiss heavy cruiser Springhawk while investigating the derelict ships. After examining the corpses and determining the vessels' origin point in the Rapacc system, Thrawn and the Springhawk traveled there.[1]
Behind the scenes
The quadruple star system appeared in the 2020 novel Thrawn Ascendancy: Chaos Rising, the first installment of Timothy Zahn's Star Wars: The Ascendancy Trilogy.[1]
