Behind the scenes

This species was made for the 2019 film Star Wars: Episode IX The Rise of Skywalker, directed by J.J. Abrams.[1] They were intended to appear in an extended segment on the planet Tatooine which took place at the end of the film, though this segment was ultimately cut.[3][4] This species was both designed[5][6] and portrayed by sculptor Darren Nevin.[4][7]

They went in a different direction in the end" (screenshot) (In response to: Need some help! Trying to figure out where these characters are supposed to be (which planet/scene) in #StarWars #TheRiseOfSkywalker. Maybe @missingwords can tell, or @tomKwilton @NickKellington have seen them on set? The last one I've not seen outside creature shop.)

(screenshot) (Hey @JakeLuntDavies, doing some research into this alien seemingly cut from the Pasaana scene in TROS played by Darren Nevin (@fx_dna I believe), and I was curious if you happened to know who may have designed them? You're usually pretty well informed into stuff like this!)
  6. Threads-Logo Luke Fisher (@luke.d.fisher) on Threads (post on December 17, 2024): "Hi Matthew. This was based on my design and sculpted by Darren Nevin. Can’t tell you much more than that really, the design was chosen from a bunch of background character designs we did." (screenshot) (Hey @luke.d.fisher, not sure if you're even active on here, but it's worth a shot! Been researching the origins of the species seemingly cut from Pasaana in The Rise of Skywalker, and JLD said it was probably designed by either you or Darren Nevin, so I was hoping maybe you could help narrow it's inception down? Any help is appreciated, thanks!)
