"You want to get the Separatists and their "Freedom droids" out of here? I have a plan… help me out, and you'll see. They'll all see!"
―The droid engineer[1]

An individual served as a droid engineer during the time of the Cold War between the Galactic Republic and the Sith Empire.[1] Around 3643 BBY,[2] the engineer sought to prove his worth to the Galactic Republic and requested assistance in assembling an improved battle droid, claiming it would help drive out the Mantellian Separatist Movement and their so-called "Freedom droids."[1]

Behind the scenes

The droid engineer first appeared in the dynamic encounter mission "Driving the Point,"[1] introduced in Game Update 7.7: Dynamic Worlds, released on May 28, 2025, as part of Star Wars: The Old Republic: Legacy of the Sith,[3] the eighth digital expansion to the massively multiplayer online role-playing game Star Wars: The Old Republic.[4]

  2. Per Forum:CT:Dating future SWTOR story and Dynamic Encounters, Wookieepedia treats Dynamic Encounters on the various planets in Star Wars: The Old Republic as occurring in the in-universe year that the respective planet's main events take place in, unless details of the encounter conflict with that date. Therefore, the events of Dynamic Encounter: "Driving the Point", which takes place on Ord Mantell, take place in 3643 BBY, per the reasoning here.
