An alien guest was present at[1] Skull Ridge Mountain Hotel & Spa[2] on Lanupa during the New Republic Era. After a group of pirates attacked the hotel[1] around 9 ABY,[3] they[4] were gathered with a group of guests at the entrance of the hotel when the pirate Jod Na Nawood emerged from a hatch in the ground. They silently watched as Na Nawood and the droid SM-33 were captured by the main group of pirates.[1]
Behind the scenes
This alien appeared in the Disney+ television series Star Wars: Skeleton Crew, with Jasper Anderson as a performance artist for the character.[1] Anderson revealed in an Instagram post that the full body puppet was the same that was used for Gatha Elbaphay in the Star Wars: Episode VIII The Last Jedi. Anderson had a video feed inside the suit since there was no other way to see out of the suit. Anderson controlled the head of the puppet with their left hand and that the face was controlled remotely by Mike Senna.[4]

- ↑ Star Wars: Timelines dates the events of "Chapter 1: The Mandalorian" of The Mandalorian Season One to 9 ABY. In addition,
"A Certain Point of View" — Star Wars Insider 228 also dates "Part Seven: Dreams and Madness" to nine years after the events of Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope, which corresponds to 9 ABY per Timelines. "Part Seven: Dreams and Madness" takes place after the conflict on Mandalore, which is the main event depicted in "Chapter 23: The Spies" and "Chapter 24: The Return," the final two episodes of The Mandalorian Season Three. Therefore, Seasons One through Three of Star Wars: The Mandalorian must all be set in 9 ABY as well.
SWCA 2022: 20 Highlights from Lucasfilm's Studio Showcase on StarWars.com (backup link) states that Star Wars: Skeleton Crew takes place in the same timeframe as Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Star Wars: Ahsoka—the latter of which can also be dated to 9 ABY following the reasoning here. As such, Skeleton Crew must take place around 9 ABY as well.

Jasper Anderson (@jasperjandersonfx) on Instagram (post on January 17, 2025): "I got to play another fun creature in Skeleton Crew episode 6, a blubbery hunchbacked species credited as the Dowager Alien. This one is a full body puppet, a little like Big Bird, where my right hand is controlling the head, and my left is fully inside of the creature’s left arm. Droid supervisor @themikesenna is controlling the face via RC. It’s a lovely construction by the UK creature shop from The Last Jedi. I had a video feed from the camera to work off of, because otherwise it’s completely blind inside! She’s just a background character, but it was a lot of fun reacting to Jude Law’s space pirate antics with the other spa guests." (backup link) (screenshot)
