According to a mythology of the Galactic Frontier, a culture existed that became insular and refused to accept newcomers, resulting in it obliterating itself.[2] By around 379 BBY,[1] Jedi Padawan Rooper Nitani studied ancient mythologies of the Galactic Frontier and learned of the culture and its destruction. She received tattoos on her arms describing scenes from some of the mythologies, including one describing the culture. Nitani took to heart the messages from the stories, each of which contained a moral tale embedded with a lesson.[2]

Around that year,[1] Nitani underwent her Jedi Trials on the world Batuu. After having difficulty locating the shield she had been tasked with finding, Nitani reflected on the stories and thought of the culture, noting that while she found them comforting, they would not help her complete her trials.[2]

Behind the scenes

The culture was mentioned in the short story "Shield of the Jedi," written by George Mann and published in the 2023 young-adult anthology The High Republic: Tales of Light and Life as a part of the Star Wars: The High Republic multimedia project.[2]

Notes and references

  1. 1.0 1.1 1.2 "Shield of the Jedi" establishes that Rooper Nitani is around eighteen years old during its events. In The High Republic: Quest for Planet X, which Star Wars: The High Republic Character Encyclopedia dates the events of to 382 BBY, Nitani is fifteen years old. Therefore, "Shield of the Jedi" must take place around 379 BBY. As the story establishes the culture was destroyed prior to its events, it must have been destroyed by around that year.
