- "Is this Kay Vess?"
"Uh, yeah. Who's this?"
"A broker. I got a big client here who wants to make you rich. Come to Renpalli station and I'll tell you more." - ―The broker speaks to Kay Vess via hologram
A Quarren broker lured the thief Kay Vess to Renpalli Station with the promise of a job for a rich client after his client Imperial Governor Thorden specifically requested her for a job. Vess met the Quarren in the space station's market and led her to a kitchen where Thorden was waiting to blackmail her into accepting the job. After leaving the kitchen, Vess confronted the broker for not warning her that the job was for the Empire, but he simply advised her to do what she had been told.

- "I should look for that broker who called us…"
"Be wary, his client could be dangerous."
"Yeah, yeah." - ―Kay Vess and ND-5 discuss the broker
The Quarren broker contacted Kay Vess on Governor Thorden's behalf.
A Quarren worked as a contract broker during the reign of the Galactic Empire and counted Imperial Governor Thorden among his clients.[1] In 3 ABY,[2] Thorden wished to acquire a map to the moon Okala Five that was being offered as the prize of a sabacc tournament on board the casino cruiser Morenia; however, Imperials were not allowed on board the cruiser and so he needed someone to play in his place. The governor requested that the broker specifically contact the thief Kay Vess about the job, as she had previously helped Thorden's book-keeper Bosnok escape from his control.
The Quarren contacted Vess while she was on board her EML-850 light freighter Trailblazer, speaking to her via her holotable. When she asked his identifity, he merely offered his profession and explained that he had a client with a job that would make her rich, not mentioning Thorden's name either. The broker promised more information once she met him on Renpalli Station, a space station in the Toshaal system. Although her partner ND-5 warned her that the Quarren's client might be dangerous, Vess sought out the broker in the station's market and the Quarren immediately asked her to follow him to the client.[1]
Renpalli rendezvous
- "Hey, you the one with the 'big client'?"
"Yeah. This way."
"You gonna tell me about the job? The client?"
"He's rich. And he asked for you specifically."
"Huh. Alright…" - ―Kay Vess meets the broker
The Quarren met Kay Vess on Renpalli Station.
When Vess asked for more details, he repeated that the client was wealthy and revealed that they had requested Vess specifically, but only grunted when she asked if he had worked with the client before. The broker guided Vess to a side corridor, stopping at the entrance and directing her to continue inside. As she entered, the thief warned the Quarren that if he was going to try anything she was armed, but the broker merely laughed. Vess then entered a kitchen where Thorden awaited her. While the governor explained the job and blackmailed Vess into accepting it, the broker returned to the market.[1]
After leaving the kitchen, Vess confronted the Quarren in the market and angrily claimed that he could have warned her that the job was for the Empire. The Quarren advised her that she would survive as long as she did what the Empire had asked of her and then left the market.[1]
Personality and traits
- "Through there."
"I got a blaster, okay? Don't try anything."
[The broker laughs] - ―The broker and Kay Vess
The Quarren broker revealed little information to Vess about the job Thorden had for her and gave no warning that his client was part of the Empire. He laughed off Vess's mention of her weapon and believed that she would be fine on the job as long as she followed orders. The Quarren had black eyes and brown skin.[1]
Equipment
While on Renpalli Station, the broker wore a brown jacket over a brown robe with black pants, a brown belt, and brown boots.[1]
Behind the scenes
