An asteroid was situated in the Outer Rim Territories' Tharin sector. During the Galactic Civil War, the Rebel Alliance maintained a droid-operated supply dump facility known as the Dump that had been built in the asteroid. At one point, however, a random asteroid impact partially destroyed the facility's docking bay, an incident that led its security droid N1K0 to irrationally believe that a Galactic Empire takeover attempt of the Dump was impending. When a team of Alliance agents subsequently approached the asteroid, N1K0 fired proton torpedoes at them, after which the Rebels proceeded to enter the Dump.
Description
An airless rocky asteroid was located in an asteroid belt of the Keldimar system, a part of the Tharin sector[1] in the Slice portion of[2] the Outer Rim Territories.[1]
History
During the Galactic Civil War between the Galactic Empire and the Rebel Alliance, the latter maintained a droid-operated automated supply dump known as the Dump that had been constructed in the interior of the Keldimar system's asteroid. At one point, in a random collision, another asteroid smashed through the Dump's outer airlock door, partially destroying its docking bay and exposing the facility's interior to the vacuum of outer space.[3]
The incident, which also resulted in the destruction of the Dump's security droid N1K2, led its remaining security droid, N1K0, to develop irrational behavior. He became convinced that the accident was in fact caused by the Empire and that the next people to approach the asteroid would be Imperial agents. Determined to prevent Imperials from taking control of the Dump, N1K0 then proceeded to lay traps throughout the facility.[3]
When a team of Rebel agents eventually approached the asteroid, N1K0 fired proton torpedoes at their starship. From space, the Rebels noted the Dump's smashed airlock door, through which they then entered the facility. Ultimately, N1K0 acted toward hijacking the starship with the intention of using it to blast the asteroid from space and then escape into the wider galaxy.[3]
Inhabitants
The Dump was operated by the maintenance droid Q5ML. The facility's droid complement also included the security droids N1K0 and N1K2 as well as several repair droids.[3]
Locations
The automated supply dump known as the Dump was carved into the interior of the asteroid, with its plasteel-lined corridors at times following the line of least resistance in the celestial body's rock. In order to establish an escape route from the facility's laboratory in which N1K0 barricaded himself, he excavated a secret tunnel leading from it to one of the Dump's dormitories. The tunnel was the only room in the Dump with walls not faced in plasteel.[3]
Behind the scenes
The asteroid appeared in "Scorched Earth," a roleplaying adventure written by Liz Holliday and published in the 1997 fourteenth issue of the Valkyrie magazine for use with West End Games' Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game.[3] The adventure is considered noncanonical with respect to the Star Wars Legends continuity.[4] The 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas placed the Keldimar system, and therefore the asteroid, in grid square S-7.[2]
