A Force-sensitive individual served as a Jedi of the Jedi Order during the High Republic Era.[2] Between 230 BBY and 228 BBY,[1] the Jedi was present in the Nihil pirates' Occlusion Zone region of space and was taken prisoner by the Nihil. As the Jedi was dying while imprisoned, he unknowingly provided the Nihil scientist Doctor Zadina Mkampa with the means to open a Sith holocron, which she had been unable to do herself. After the Sith holocron was opened, the Jedi died.[2]

In 228 BBY,[1] as she held the Sith holocron in her hands, Mkampa mentally reflected on how she had been unable to open it, before recalling the Jedi's role in opening it. She then noted he had passed away before realizing what he had done or was able to tell anyone within the Nihil about it.[2]

Behind the scenes

The Jedi was mentioned in the 2025 young-adult novel The High Republic: Into the Light, written by Claudia Gray as part of the Star Wars: The High Republic multimedia project's[2] Phase III.[3]

  1. 1.0 1.1 1.2 The High Republic: Into the Light—the events of which take place in 228 BBY per the reasoning here—establishes the Jedi died in the Occlusion Zone between its formation and the events of the novel. As Star Wars: The High Republic Character Encyclopedia dates the Occlusion Zone's creation to 230 BBY, the Jedi must have passed between 230 BBY and 228 BBY.
