- "They called themselves the Nihil. Have you ever heard of such a thing?"
"No, but Douglas had a holo from another Jedi about some dangerous marauders who were prowling the Dalnan sector. I didn't see it. He sent me from the room as he watched it, but I think it was probably them." - ―Vernestra Rwoh and Imri Cantaros
A Force-sensitive individual served as a Jedi of the Jedi Order during the High Republic Era.[1] By 232 BBY,[2] they sent a holo to Jedi Master Douglas Sunvale to inform him about dangerous marauders known as the Nihil that were prowling the Outer Rim's Dalnan sector, where Sunvale was stationed as the marshal[1] of the Jedi outpost[3] on the planet Haileap.[1]
That year,[2] Sunvale was killed by the marauders the Jedi informed him of, and his Padawan—Imri Cantaros—became stranded on the Dalnan sector moon Wevo. While Cantaros and Jedi Knight Vernestra Rwoh investigated a disturbance in the Force—the pirates that caused Sunvale's death—they learned the pirates were part of the Nihil. Rwoh asked the Padawan if he had heard of the Nihil, and Cantaros stated he had not. He then recalled the Jedi's holo to Sunvale, and concluded that while he had had not seen the message, it was likely the pirates his Master had been told about.[1]
Behind the scenes
The Jedi was mentioned in the 2021 junior novel The High Republic: A Test of Courage, written by Justina Ireland and published as part of the Star Wars: The High Republic multimedia project's[1] Phase I.[4]
