"A word, Lieutenant Haydenn?"
"Now is not the best time."
"With all due respect, I believe you'll want to hear this."
―The officer and Jyala Haydenn[1]

A human served as an Imperial officer in the Galactic Empire during the Imperial Era. Around 3 ABY, the officer was at Ryleel Imperial Base on the Colonies planet Carida when an alert came in about a raid of a suspected rebel base with no reported survivors of the incident. They then became aware the base had also apparently housed loved ones of Lieutenant Beilert Valance, who had been forced into Imperial service to protect them, and sought out Lieutenant Jyala Haydenn to inform her of the news.

After locating Haydenn, the officer told her about the raid. Once the officer revealed the base had supposedly hosted Valance's loved ones, Haydenn grabbed the officer and noted that Valance could not find out about the raid or he would turn against the Empire. After the officer was threatened with having to personally inform the Dark Lord of the Sith Darth Vader why Valance would have done so, the officer told Haydenn they understood and left.

Biography

"There was an alert…of a raid of a suspected rebel base. Apparently flagged by an anonymous tip to the Imperial watch-line."
"And?"
"It apparently was the same base that housed Valance's loved ones. There were no reported survivors."
―The officer and Jyala Haydenn[1]

A human served as an officer of the Galactic Empire during the Imperial Era.[1] Around 3 ABY,[2] the officer was present at Ryleel Imperial Base on[1] the Colonies planet[3] Carida at the time that Lieutenant Beilert Valance was treated at the base after sustaining radiation burns during a rescue of Imperial engineers. While the officer was at the base, an alert came in about an Imperial raid of a suspected rebel base after a tip off to the Imperial watch-line, and the officer learned the rebel base in question had supposedly housed loved ones of Valance[1]—who he had been coerced into Imperial service in order to protect[4]—and that there had been no reported survivors. Knowing that Lieutenant[1] Jyala Haydenn[3]—who worked alongside Valance—would want to know about the raid, the officer set out to find[1] her.[3]

Locating the lieutenant in the base's infirmary, the officer asked if they could talk, to which Haydenn noted that it was not the best time. The officer then informed her that she would want to hear what they had to say, and told her about the raid. After Haydenn questioned why the officer had told her, they revealed the base had apparently been the one where Valance's loved ones had been, before informing her that there had been no reported survivors. As she knew what would happen if Valance became aware of the raid and the apparent loss of his loved ones, Haydenn grabbed the officer and told them that knowledge of the raid had to stay between them, threatening that the officer would have to personally inform[1] the Dark Lord of the Sith[3] Darth Vader why his prized enforcer, referring to Valance, had turned against the Empire. After Haydenn asked the officer if they understood what she had said, the officer hesitantly confirmed they did and left the infirmary.[1]

Personality and traits

"This stays between us. Or you will explain to Lord Vader personally why his prized enforcer turned on the Empire. Do you understand?"
"Y-yes lieutenant."
―Jyala Haydenn and the officer[1]

The Imperial officer had light skin. They became slightly nervous when Lieutenant Jyala Haydenn grabbed them and threatened them with having to explain to Darth Vader why Beilert Valance had turned against the Empire if he became aware of the raid that had apparently killed his loved ones.[1]

Equipment

They wore a green Imperial officer's uniform with a rank insignia plaque and an Imperial kepi donned with an officer's disk. The officer also wore a black utility belt and gloves.[1]

The Imperial officer appeared in the twenty-fifth issue of the 2020 comic series Star Wars: Bounty Hunters. The issue was written by Ethan Sacks, illustrated by Paolo Villanelli, and published by Marvel Comics[1] on July 13, 2022.[5]
