An individual was the high-placed lieutenant within the Black Sun criminal organization.[1] By 4 ABY,[2] the colorful[3] and outgoing[1] Theelin-human hybrid[4] female dancer Rystáll Sant had attracted the attention of the lieutenant,[1] who tricked[3] her into enslavement. Sant was eventually freed by the smuggler Lando Calrissian and she became a singer and dancer for the Max Rebo Band at the palace of the crime lord Jabba the Hutt on the planet Tatooine.[1]

Behind the scenes

The Black Sun lieutenant was first mentioned in the current Star Wars canon in the 2016 reference book Star Wars Character Encyclopedia: Updated and Expanded, written by Pablo Hidalgo.[5] In the Star Wars Legends continuity, the individual who enslaved Rystáll Sant was established to be the Black Sun crime lord Prince Xizor in "Who's Who in the Max Rebo Band," an article written by Rich Handley and published in Star Wars Insider 67 by Paizo Publishing[6] on April 15, 2003.[7] Xizor was created for the multimedia project Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire, with the character first appearing in the 1996 novel Shadows of the Empire, written by Steve Perry.[8] While Xizor exists in canon, he has not been established to be the individual in the current continuity.[9]
