- "The Empire has a large operation on one of the islands in the Great Basin. My sources tell me they are looking for artifacts for 'cultural importance'. Needless to say we cannot let them take our history! A group of us are planning to sabotage the operation. Whatever the consequences. Are you in? Now delete this message. I mean that Ruto!"
- ―Data message from Ruto's assoicate
An Akivan rebel resided on the Outer Rim jungle planet Akiva during the reign of the Galactic Empire.[1] By 3 ABY,[2] they had learned the Empire had established a excavation site to look for artifacts for cultural importance on one of the islands in Great Basin region of Akiva. Viewing the Empire's operation as the theft of Akivan history, the rebel began planning to sabotage the excavation site with a group of people. They eventually sent a message to Ruto, a fellow Akivan, asking them to join the group and reminding them to delete the message. However, the communication ultimately end up in possession of the Empire, a copy of it was stored on a datapad at a tent in the excavation site[1] during 3 ABY.[2]
That year,[2] the thief Kay Vess found and read the datapad while at the excavation site.[1]
